Then answered they and said before the king, That Daniel, which is of the children of the captivity of Judah, regardeth not thee, O king, nor the decree that thou hast signed, but maketh his petition three times a day.
Now among them from the sons of Judah were
Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah.
Then Arioch hurriedly
brought Daniel into the king’s presence and spoke to him as follows: “I have found a man among the exiles from Judah who can make the interpretation known to the king!”
Then Daniel was brought in before the king. The king spoke and said to Daniel, “Are you that Daniel who is one of the
exiles from Judah, whom my father the king brought from Judah?
There are certain Jews whom you have
appointed over the administration of the province of Babylon, namely Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego. These men, O king, have disregarded you; they do not serve your gods or worship the golden image which you have set up.”
Then Haman said to King Ahasuerus, “There is a certain people scattered and dispersed among the peoples in all the provinces of your kingdom;
their laws are different from those of all other people and they do not observe the king’s laws, so it is not in the king’s interest to let them remain.
But Peter and the apostles answered, “
We must obey God rather than men.
and Jason has welcomed them, and they all act contrary to the decrees of Caesar, saying that there is another king, Jesus.”
