Ceremonies
1 And Moses and the elders of Israel commanded the people, saying, Keep all the commandment which I command you this day.

1 Moses and the elders of Israel gave these orders to the people: "Observe all of the commandments that I'm giving you today.
2 And it shall be on the day when ye shall pass over the Jordan to the land which LORD thy God gives thee, that thou shall set up for thee great stones, and plaster them with plaster.
2 And it shall be on the day when ye shall pass over Jordan unto the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, that thou shalt set thee up great stones, and plaister them with plaister:
2 (A)So it shall be on the day when you cross the Jordan to the land which the Lord your God gives you, that you shall set up for yourself large stones and coat them with lime
2 At the time you cross the Jordan into the land the Lord your God is giving you, you must set up large stones and cover them with plaster.(A)
2 On the day you cross over the Jordan River to the land that the LORD your God is about to give you, set up large stones and coat them with plaster.
3 And thou shall write upon them all the words of this law when thou have passed over, that thou may go in to the land which LORD thy God gives thee, a land flowing with milk and honey, as LORD, the God of thy fathers, has promised t
3 And thou shalt write upon them all the words of this law, when thou art passed over, that thou mayest go in unto the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, a land that floweth with milk and honey; as the LORD God of thy fathers hath promised thee.
3 and write on them all the words of this law, when you cross over, so that you may enter the land which the Lord your God gives you, (B)a land flowing with milk and honey, as the Lord, the God of your fathers, (a)promised you.
3 Write all the words of this law on the stones after you cross to enter the land the Lord your God is giving you, a land flowing with milk and honey,(B) as Yahweh, the God of your fathers, has promised you.
3 Then inscribe on them all the words of this Law when you've crossed over into the land that the LORD your God is about to give you a land flowing with milk and honey just as the LORD God of your ancestors promised you.
4 And it shall be, when ye have passed over the Jordan, that ye shall set up these stones, which I command you this day, in mount Ebal, and thou shall plaster them with plaster.
4 Therefore it shall be when ye be gone over Jordan, that ye shall set up these stones, which I command you this day, in mount Ebal, and thou shalt plaister them with plaister.
4 So it shall be when you cross the Jordan, you shall set up (C)on Mount Ebal, these stones, (b)as I am commanding you today, and you shall coat them with lime.
4 When you have crossed the Jordan, you are to set up these stones on Mount Ebal, as I am commanding you today, and you are to cover them with plaster.

5 And there thou shall build an altar to LORD thy God, an altar of stones. Thou shall lift up no iron upon them.
5 And there shalt thou build an altar unto the LORD thy God, an altar of stones: thou shalt not lift up any iron tool upon them.
5 Moreover, you shall build there an altar to the Lord your God, an altar of stones; you (D)shall not (c)wield an iron tool on them.

6 Thou shall build the altar of LORD thy God of unhewn stones. And thou shall offer burnt-offerings on it to LORD thy God.
6 Thou shalt build the altar of the LORD thy God of whole stones: and thou shalt offer burnt offerings thereon unto the LORD thy God:
6 You shall build the altar of the Lord your God of (d)uncut stones, and you shall offer on it burnt offerings to the Lord your God;
6 Use uncut stones to build the altar of the Lord your God and offer burnt offerings to the Lord your God on it.
6 Build the altar to the LORD your God with uncut stones, then offer a burnt offering to him.
7 And thou shall sacrifice peace-offerings, and shall eat there, and thou shall rejoice before LORD thy God.
7 And thou shalt offer peace offerings, and shalt eat there, and rejoice before the LORD thy God.
7 There you are to sacrifice fellowship offerings, eat, and rejoice in the presence of the Lord your God.
7 Offer a burnt offering there, then eat and rejoice in the presence of the LORD your God.
8 And thou shall write upon the stones all the words of this law very plainly.

The Covenant Curses
9 And Moses and the priests the Levites spoke to all Israel, saying, Keep silence, and hearken, O Israel. This day thou have become the people of LORD thy God.
9 And Moses and the priests the Levites spake unto all Israel, saying, Take heed, and hearken, O Israel; this day thou art become the people of the LORD thy God.
9 Then Moses and the Levitical priests spoke to all Israel, saying, “Be silent and listen, O Israel! This day you have become a people for the Lord your God.
9 Moses and the Levitical priests spoke to all Israel, “Be silent, Israel, and listen! This day you have become the people of the Lord your God.
9 Then Moses and the Levitical priests spoke to Israel. They said, "Be quiet and listen, Israel! Today you have become the people of the LORD your God.
10 Thou shall therefore obey the voice of LORD thy God, and do his commandments and his statutes, which I command thee this day.
10 Thou shalt therefore obey the voice of the LORD thy God, and do his commandments and his statutes, which I command thee this day.
10 You shall therefore (f)obey the Lord your God, and do His commandments and His statutes which I command you today.”
10 Obey the Lord your God and follow His commands and statutes I am giving you today.”
10 Listen to his voice and carry out his commands and statutes that I'm giving you today."
Blessings And Curses
12 These shall stand upon mount Gerizim to bless the people, when ye have passed over the Jordan: Simeon, and Levi, and Judah, and Issachar, and Joseph, and Benjamin.
12 These shall stand upon mount Gerizim to bless the people, when ye are come over Jordan; Simeon, and Levi, and Judah, and Issachar, and Joseph, and Benjamin:

13 And these shall stand upon mount Ebal for the curse: Reuben, Gad, and Asher, and Zebulun, Dan, and Naphtali.

The Covenant Curses
14 And the Levites shall answer, and say to all the men of Israel with a loud voice,

15 Cursed be the man who makes a graven or molten image, an abomination to LORD, the work of the hands of the craftsman, and sets it up in secret. And all the people shall answer and say, Amen.
15 Cursed be the man that maketh any graven or molten image, an abomination unto the LORD, the work of the hands of the craftsman, and putteth it in a secret place. And all the people shall answer and say, Amen.
15 ‘Cursed is the man who makes (g)(H)an idol or a molten image, an abomination to the Lord, the work of the hands of the craftsman, and sets it up in secret.’ And (I)all the people shall answer and say, ‘Amen.’
15 ‘The person who makes a carved idol or cast image, which is detestable to the Lord, the work of a craftsman, and sets it up in secret is cursed.’And all the people will reply, ‘Amen!’
15 ""Cursed is the one who makes a sculptured or cast image a detestable thing to the LORD, the work of a craftsman and sets it up secretly.' "Then all the people are to respond by saying, "Amen!'
16 Cursed be he who dishonors his father or his mother. And all the people shall say, Amen.
16 Cursed be he that setteth light by his father or his mother. And all the people shall say, Amen.
16 ‘The one who dishonors his father or mother is cursed.’And all the people will say, ‘Amen!’
16 ""Cursed is the one who treats his father and mother with dishonor.' "Then all the people are to respond by saying, "Amen!'
17 Cursed be he who removes his neighbor's landmark. And all the people shall say, Amen.

17 ‘The one who moves his neighbor’s boundary marker is cursed.’And all the people will say, ‘Amen!’

18 Cursed be he who makes the blind to wander out of the way. And all the people shall say, Amen.

18 ‘The one who leads a blind person astray on the road is cursed.’And all the people will say, ‘Amen!’

19 Cursed be he who distorts the justice to the sojourner, fatherless, and widow. And all the people shall say, Amen.
19 Cursed be he that perverteth the judgment of the stranger, fatherless, and widow. And all the people shall say, Amen.
19 ‘(M)Cursed is he who distorts the justice due an alien, (h)orphan, and widow.’ And all the people shall say, ‘Amen.’
19 ‘The one who denies justice to a foreigner, a fatherless child, or a widow is cursed.’And all the people will say, ‘Amen!’
19 ""Cursed is the one who perverts justice due the foreigner, the orphan, or the widow.' "Then all the people are to respond by saying, "Amen!'
20 Cursed be he who lays with his father's wife, because he has uncovered his father's skirt. And all the people shall say, Amen.
20 Cursed be he that lieth with his father's wife; because he uncovereth his father's skirt. And all the people shall say, Amen.
20 ‘(N)Cursed is he who lies with his father’s wife, because he has uncovered his father’s skirt.’ And all the people shall say, ‘Amen.’
20 ‘The one who sleeps with his father’s wife is cursed, for he has violated his father’s marriage bed.’(a)And all the people will say, ‘Amen!’
20 "Cursed is the one who has sexual relations with his father's wife, because he has disgraced his father.' "Then all the people are to respond by saying, "Amen!'
21 Cursed be he who lays with any manner of beast. And all the people shall say, Amen.
21 Cursed be he that lieth with any manner of beast. And all the people shall say, Amen.
21 ‘The one who has sexual intercourse with any animal is cursed.’And all the people will say, ‘Amen!’

22 Cursed be he who lays with his sister, the daughter of his father, or the daughter of his mother. And all the people shall say, Amen.

22 ‘(P)Cursed is he who lies with his sister, the daughter of his father or of his mother.’ And all the people shall say, ‘Amen.’
22 ‘The one who sleeps with his sister, whether his father’s daughter or his mother’s daughter is cursed.’And all the people will say, ‘Amen!’
22 ""Cursed is the one who has sexual relations with his sister, the daughter of his father or mother.' "Then all the people are to respond by saying, "Amen!'
23 Cursed be he who lays with his mother-in-law. And all the people shall say, Amen.
23 Cursed be he that lieth with his mother in law. And all the people shall say, Amen.
23 ‘The one who sleeps with his mother-in-law is cursed.’And all the people will say, ‘Amen!’
23 ""Cursed is the one who has sexual relations with his mother-in-law.' "Then all the people are to respond by saying, "Amen!'
24 Cursed be he who smites his neighbor in secret. And all the people shall say, Amen.
24 Cursed be he that smiteth his neighbour secretly. And all the people shall say, Amen.
24 ‘The one who secretly kills his neighbor is cursed.’And all the people will say, ‘Amen!’
24 ""Cursed is one who strikes his neighbor secretly.' "Then all the people are to respond by saying, "Amen!'
25 Cursed be he who takes a bribe to kill an innocent man. And all the people shall say, Amen.
25 Cursed be he that taketh reward to slay an innocent person. And all the people shall say, Amen.
25 ‘(S)Cursed is he who accepts a bribe to strike down an innocent person.’ And all the people shall say, ‘Amen.’
25 ‘The one who accepts a bribe to kill an innocent person is cursed.’And all the people will say, ‘Amen!’

26 Cursed is {every man who does not continue in all (LXX/NT)} the words of this law to do them. And all the people shall say, Amen.
26 Cursed be he that confirmeth not all the words of this law to do them. And all the people shall say, Amen.
26 ‘(T)Cursed is he who does not confirm the words of this law by doing them.’ And all the people shall say, ‘Amen.’
26 ‘Anyone who does not put the words of this law into practice is cursed.’And all the people will say, ‘Amen!’
26 ""Cursed is the one who doesn't uphold the words of this Law and observe them.' "Then all the people are to respond by saying, "Amen!'"
