Treasury of Scripture Knowledge
For this cause I Paul, the prisoner of Jesus Christ for you Gentiles,
2 Corinthians 10:1
I, Paul, myself urge you by the meekness and gentleness of Christ—I who am meek when face to face with you, but bold toward you when absent!
Paul, say to you that if you receive circumcision, Christ will be of no benefit to you.
the prisoner of the Lord, implore you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling with which you have been called,
for which I am an
ambassador in chains; that in proclaiming it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.
“But before all these things, they will lay their hands on you and will persecute you, delivering you to the synagogues and prisons, bringing you before kings and governors for My name’s sake.
commander came up and took hold of him, and ordered him to be bound with two chains; and he began asking who he was and what he had done.
And Paul said, “
I would wish to God, that whether in a short or long time, not only you, but also all who hear me this day, might become such as I am, except for these chains.”
After three days
Paul called together those who were the leading men of the Jews, and when they came together, he began saying to them, “ Brethren, though I had done nothing against our people or the customs of our fathers, yet I was delivered as a prisoner from Jerusalem into the hands of the Romans.
2 Corinthians 11:23
servants of Christ?—I speak as if insane—I more so; in far more labors, in far more imprisonments, beaten times without number, often in danger of death.
For it is only right for me to feel this way about you all, because I have you in my heart, since both in my imprisonment and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel, you all are partakers of grace with me.
Now I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and in my flesh I do my share on behalf of His body, which is the church, in filling up what is lacking in Christ’s afflictions.
praying at the same time
for us as well, that God will open up to us a door for the word, so that we may speak forth the mystery of Christ, for which I have also been imprisoned;
2 Timothy 1:8
do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord or of me His prisoner, but join with me in suffering for the gospel according to the power of God,
2 Timothy 2:9
for which I suffer hardship even to imprisonment as a criminal; but the word of God is not imprisoned.
Paul, To Philemon our beloved brother and a prisoner of Christ Jesus, and Timothy our brother, fellow worker,
Do not fear what you are about to suffer. Behold, the devil is about to cast some of you into prison, so that you will be tested, and you will have tribulation for ten days. Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.
