Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.
You shall not swear falsely by My name, so as to profane the name of your God; I am the Lord.
The son of the Israelite woman blasphemed the
Name and cursed. So they brought him to Moses. (Now his mother’s name was Shelomith, the daughter of Dibri, of the tribe of Dan.)
You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not leave him unpunished who takes His name in vain.
“Offer to God a sacrifice of thanksgiving
pay your vows to the Most High;
That I not be full and deny You and say, “Who is the Lord?”
Or that I not be
in want and steal,
profane the name of my God.
Or that I not be
And you will swear, ‘As the Lord lives,’ In truth, in justice and in righteousness;
nations will bless themselves in Him,
in Him they will glory.”
“Again, you have heard that the ancients were told, ‘ You shall not make false vows, but shall fulfill your vows to the Lord.’
“Woe to you, blind guides, who say, ‘ Whoever swears by the temple, that is nothing; but whoever swears by the gold of the temple is obligated.’
Jesus kept silent. And the high priest said to Him, “I adjure You by the living God, that You tell us whether You are the Christ, the Son of God.”
2 Corinthians 1:23
I call God as witness to my soul, that to spare you I did not come again to Corinth.
For men swear by one greater than themselves, and with them an oath given as confirmation is an end of every dispute.
But above all,
my brethren, do not swear, either by heaven or by earth or with any other oath; but your yes is to be yes, and your no, no, so that you may not fall under judgment.
Now therefore, please swear to me by the Lord, since I have dealt kindly with you, that you also will deal kindly with my father’s household, and give me a
pledge of truth,
This we will do to them, even let them live, so that wrath will not be upon us for the oath which we swore to them.”
2 Samuel 21:1
Now there was

1 Kings 2:9
Now therefore, do not let him go unpunished,
