Adam's Descendants To Noah

1 This is the book (the written record, the history) of the generations of [the descendants of] Adam. When God created man, He made him in the likeness of God [not physical, but a spiritual personality and moral likeness].

1 These are the family(a) records(A) of the descendants of Adam. On the day that God created man,(b) He made him in the likeness of God;

1 This is the historical record of Adam's generations. When God created mankind, he made them in his own likeness.

2 He created them male and female, and blessed them and named them (a)Mankind at the time they were created.

2 Male and female created he them; and blessed them, and called their name Adam, in the day when they were created.

2 He created them (B)male and female, and He (C)blessed them and named them (a)Man in the day when they were created.

3 When Adam had lived a hundred and thirty years, he (b)became the father of a son in his own likeness, according to his image, and named him Seth.

3 And Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and begat a son in his own likeness, after his image; and called his name Seth:

3 Adam was 130 years old when he fathered a son in his likeness, according to his image, and named him Seth.

4 After he became the father of Seth, Adam lived eight hundred years and had other sons and daughters.

4 And the days of Adam after he had begotten Seth were eight hundred years: and he begat sons and daughters:

4 Adam lived 800 years after the birth of Seth, and he fathered other sons and daughters.

4 Adam lived another 800 years, fathering other sons and daughters after he had fathered Seth.

5 So Adam lived nine hundred and thirty years in all, and he died.

6 When Seth was a hundred and five years old, he became the father of Enosh.

7 Seth lived 807 years after the birth of Enosh, and he fathered other sons and daughters.

8 So Seth lived nine hundred and twelve years, and he died.

9 When Enosh was ninety years old, he became the father of Kenan.

9 And Enos lived ninety years, and begat Cainan:

9 When Enosh had lived 90 years, he fathered Kenan.

10 Enosh lived eight hundred and fifteen years after the birth of Kenan and had other sons and daughters.

10 And Enos lived after he begat Cainan eight hundred and fifteen years, and begat sons and daughters:

10 Then Enosh lived eight hundred and fifteen years after he became the father of Kenan, and he had other sons and daughters.

10 Enosh lived 815 years after the birth of Kenan, and he fathered other sons and daughters.

10 After he fathered Kenan, Enosh lived 815 years, fathering other sons and daughters.

11 So Enosh lived nine hundred and five years, and he died.

11 And all the days of Enos were nine hundred and five years: and he died.

12 When Kenan was seventy years old, he became the father of Mahalalel.

12 And Cainan lived seventy years, and begat Mahalaleel:

12 Kenan lived seventy years, and became the father of Mahalalel.

12 Kenan was 70 years old when he fathered Mahalalel.

12 When Kenan had lived 70 years, he fathered Mahalalel.

13 Kenan lived eight hundred and forty years after the birth of Mahalalel and had other sons and daughters.

13 And Cainan lived after he begat Mahalaleel eight hundred and forty years, and begat sons and daughters:

13 Then Kenan lived eight hundred and forty years after he became the father of Mahalalel, and he had other sons and daughters.

13 Kenan lived 840 years after the birth of Mahalalel, and he fathered other sons and daughters.

13 After he fathered Mahalalel, Kenan lived 840 years, fathering other sons and daughters.

14 So Kenan lived nine hundred and ten years, and he died.

14 And all the days of Cainan were nine hundred and ten years: and he died.

14 So all the days of Kenan were nine hundred and ten years, and he died.

14 So Kenan’s life lasted 910 years; then he died.

14 Kenan lived a total of 910 years, and then died.

15 When Mahalalel was sixty-five years old, he became the father of Jared.

15 And Mahalaleel lived sixty and five years, and begat Jared:

15 Mahalalel lived sixty-five years, and became the father of Jared.

15 Mahalalel was 65 years old when he fathered Jared.

15 When Mahalalel had lived 65 years, he fathered Jared.

16 Mahalalel lived eight hundred and thirty years after the birth of Jared and had other sons and daughters.

16 And Mahalaleel lived after he begat Jared eight hundred and thirty years, and begat sons and daughters:

16 Then Mahalalel lived eight hundred and thirty years after he became the father of Jared, and he had other sons and daughters.

16 Mahalalel lived 830 years after the birth of Jared, and he fathered other sons and daughters.

17 So Mahalalel lived eight hundred and ninety-five years, and he died.

17 And all the days of Mahalaleel were eight hundred ninety and five years: and he died.

18 When Jared was a hundred and sixty-two years old, he became the father of Enoch.

18 And Jared lived an hundred sixty and two years, and he begat Enoch:

18 Jared lived one hundred and sixty-two years, and became the father of Enoch.

18 Jared was 162 years old when he fathered Enoch.

18 When Jared had lived 162 years, he fathered Enoch.

19 Jared lived eight hundred years after the birth of Enoch and had other sons and daughters.

19 And Jared lived after he begat Enoch eight hundred years, and begat sons and daughters:

19 Then Jared lived eight hundred years after he became the father of Enoch, and he had other sons and daughters.

19 Jared lived 800 years after the birth of Enoch, and he fathered other sons and daughters.

20 So Jared lived nine hundred and sixty-two years, and he died.

21 When Enoch was sixty-five years old, he became the father of Methuselah.

21 And Enoch lived sixty and five years, and begat Methuselah:

21 Enoch was 65 years old when he fathered Methuselah.

21 When Enoch had lived 65 years, he fathered Methuselah.

22 Enoch walked [in habitual fellowship] with God three hundred years after the birth of Methuselah and had other sons and daughters.

22 And Enoch walked with God after he begat Methuselah three hundred years, and begat sons and daughters:

22 Then Enoch (D)walked with God three hundred years after he became the father of Methuselah, and he had other sons and daughters.

22 And after the birth of Methuselah, Enoch walked with God(B) 300 years and fathered other sons and daughters.

22 After he fathered Methuselah, Enoch communed with God for 300 years and fathered other sons and daughters.

23 So all the days of Enoch were three hundred and sixty-five years.

23 So Enoch’s life lasted 365 years.

23 Enoch lived a total of 365 years,

24 And [in reverent fear and obedience] Enoch walked with God; and he was not [found among men], because God took him [away to be home with Him].(A)

24 communing with God and then he was there no longer, because God had taken him.

25 When Methuselah was a hundred and eighty-seven years old, he became the father of Lamech.

25 And Methuselah lived an hundred eighty and seven years, and begat Lamech:

25 Methuselah lived one hundred and eighty-seven years, and became the father of Lamech.

25 Methuselah was 187 years old when he fathered Lamech.

25 When Methuselah had lived 187 years, he fathered Lamech.

26 Methuselah lived seven hundred and eighty-two years after the birth of Lamech and had other sons and daughters.

26 And Methuselah lived after he begat Lamech seven hundred eighty and two years, and begat sons and daughters:

26 Then Methuselah lived seven hundred and eighty-two years after he became the father of Lamech, and he had other sons and daughters.

26 Methuselah lived 782 years after the birth of Lamech, and he fathered other sons and daughters.

27 So Methuselah lived nine hundred and sixty-nine years, and he died.

28 When Lamech was a hundred and eighty-two years old, he became the father of a son.

28 Lamech was 182 years old when he fathered a son.

28 When Lamech had lived 182 years, he fathered a son,

29 He named him Noah, saying, “This one shall bring us rest and comfort from our work and from the [dreadful] toil of our hands because of the ground which the Lord cursed.”

29 And he called his name Noah, saying, This same shall comfort us concerning our work and toil of our hands, because of the ground which the LORD hath cursed.

29 Now he called his name Noah, saying, “This one will (c)give us rest from our work and from the toil of our hands arising from (G)the ground which the Lord has cursed.”

29 And he named him Noah,(d) saying, “This one will bring us relief from the agonizing labor of our hands, caused by the ground the Lord has cursed.”(D)

29 whom he named Noah, because he said, "May this one comfort us from our work, from pain that is caused by our manual labor, and from the ground that the LORD has cursed."

30 Lamech lived five hundred and ninety-five years after the birth of Noah and had other sons and daughters.

30 And Lamech lived after he begat Noah five hundred ninety and five years, and begat sons and daughters:

30 Then Lamech lived five hundred and ninety-five years after he became the father of Noah, and he had other sons and daughters.

30 Lamech lived 595 years after Noah’s birth, and he fathered other sons and daughters.

30 After he fathered Noah, Lamech lived 595 years, fathering other sons and daughters.

31 So all the days of Lamech were seven hundred and seventy-seven years, and he died.

31 And all the days of Lamech were seven hundred seventy and seven years: and he died.

32 After Noah was five hundred years old, he became the father of Shem, Ham, and Japheth.

32 And Noah was five hundred years old: and Noah begat Shem, Ham, and Japheth.

32 Noah was 500 years old, and he fathered Shem, Ham, and Japheth.
