Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people.
For both He who
sanctifies and those who are sanctified are all from one Father; for which reason He is not ashamed to call them brethren,
emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men.
He was faithful to Him who appointed Him, as Moses also was in all His house.
For we do not have
a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin.
For every high priest
taken from among men is appointed on behalf of men in things pertaining to God, in order to offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins;
Also righteousness will be the belt about His loins,
faithfulness the belt about His waist.
But no sin offering
of which any of the blood is brought into the tent of meeting to make atonement in the holy place shall be eaten; it shall be burned with fire.
Moses slaughtered it and took the blood and with his finger put some of it around on the horns of the altar, and purified the altar. Then he poured out the rest of the blood at the base of the altar and consecrated it, to make atonement for it.
2 Chronicles 29:24
The priests slaughtered them and purged the altar with their blood
