3 and said, “(D)Remember now, O Lord, I beseech You, how I have (E)walked before You in truth and with a (F)whole heart, and (G)have done what is good in Your sight.” And Hezekiah (H)wept (b)bitterly.

3 And said, Remember now, O LORD, I beseech thee, how I have walked before thee in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in thy sight. And Hezekiah wept sore.

3 "Please, LORD," he said, "Remember how I have walked before you faithfully and with a true heart, and I have done what pleases you." And Hezekiah wept bitterly.

3 and said, “Please, O Lord, just remember how I have walked before You in faithfulness and truth, and with a whole heart [absolutely devoted to You], and have done what is good in Your sight.” And Hezekiah wept greatly.

4 Then the word of the Lord came to Isaiah:

4 Then the word of the Lord came to Isaiah, saying,

4 Then came the word of the LORD to Isaiah, saying,

4 Then this message from the LORD came to Isaiah:

4 Then the word of the Lord came to Isaiah, saying,

5 “Go and tell Hezekiah that this is what the Lord God of your ancestor David says: I have heard your prayer; I have seen your tears. Look, I am going to add 15 years to your life.(d)(E)

5 “Go and say to Hezekiah, ‘Thus says the Lord, the God of your father David, “I have heard your prayer, I have seen your tears; behold, I will add (I)fifteen years to your (c)life.

5 Go, and say to Hezekiah, Thus saith the LORD, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will add unto thy days fifteen years.

5 "Go tell Hezekiah, "This is what the LORD God of your ancestor David has to say: "I've heard your prayer and I've seen your tears; so I will add fifteen years to your life.

5 “Go and say to Hezekiah, ‘For the Lord, the God of David your father says this, “I have heard your prayer, I have seen your tears; listen carefully, I will add fifteen years to your life.

6 And I will deliver you and this city from the power of the king of Assyria; I will defend this city.(F)

6 I will (J)deliver you and this city from the hand of the king of Assyria; and I will defend this city.”’

6 And I will deliver thee and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria: and I will defend this city.

6 I'll save you and this city from the king of Assyria, and I'll defend this city, for my own sake and for my servant David's sake.

6 I will rescue you and this city from the hand of the king of Assyria; and I will defend this city [Jerusalem].”’

7 This is the sign to you(G) from the Lord that He will do what(e) He has promised:(f)

7 “This shall be the (K)sign to you from the Lord, that the Lord will do this thing that He has spoken:

7 And this shall be a sign unto thee from the LORD, that the LORD will do this thing that he hath spoken;

7 This is the LORD's sign to you that the LORD will carry out this thing he has promised:

7 “This shall be the sign to you from the Lord, that the Lord will do this thing that He has spoken:

8 I am going to make the sun’s shadow that goes down on Ahaz’s stairway go back by 10 steps.”(H) So the sun’s shadow(g) went back the 10 steps it had descended.

8 Behold, I will (L)cause the shadow on the stairway, which has gone down with the sun on the stairway of Ahaz, to go back ten steps.” So the (M)sun’s shadow went back ten steps on the stairway on which it had gone down.

8 Behold, I will bring again the shadow of the degrees, which is gone down in the sun dial of Ahaz, ten degrees backward. So the sun returned ten degrees, by which degrees it was gone down.

8 Watch! I will make the shadow on the steps of the upper dial of Ahaz that marks the sun go ten steps backwards."'" Then the sunlight turned back on the dial the ten steps by which it had gone down.

8 Listen carefully, I will turn the shadow on the stairway [denoting the time of day] ten steps backward, the shadow on the stairway ((a)sundial) of Ahaz.” And the sunlight went ten steps backward on the stairway where it had [previously] gone down.

9 A composition by King Hezekiah of Judah, following his illness and recovery:

9 This is the writing of Hezekiah king of Judah after he had been sick and had recovered from his illness:

10 I said: In the prime(h) of my life(i)(I)I must go to the gates of Sheol;(J)I am deprived of the rest of my years.

10 I said, “(N)In the middle of my (e)lifeI am to enter the (O)gates of Sheol;I am to be (P)deprived of the rest of my years.”

10 I said in the cutting off of my days, I shall go to the gates of the grave: I am deprived of the residue of my years.

10 I said, "Must I leave in the prime of my life? Must I be consigned to the control of Sheol? Bitter are my years!"

10 I said, “In mid-lifeI am to go through the gates of Sheol (the place of the dead),I am to be summoned, deprived of the remainder of my years.”

11 I said: I will never see the Lord, the Lord in the land of the living;(K)I will not look on humanity any longerwith the inhabitants of what is passing away.(j)

11 I said, “I will not see the Lord,The Lord (Q)in the land of the living;I will look on man no more among the inhabitants of the world.

11 I said, I shall not see the LORD, even the LORD, in the land of the living: I shall behold man no more with the inhabitants of the world.

11 I said, "I won't see the LORD in the land of the living; and I'll no longer observe human beings among the denizens of the grave.

11 I said, “I will not see the LordThe Lord in the land of the living;I will no longer see man among the inhabitants of the world.

12 My dwelling is plucked up and removed from melike a shepherd’s tent.(L)I have rolled up my life like a weaver;(M)He cuts me off from the loom.(k)(N)You make an end of me from day until night.(O)

12 “Like a shepherd’s (R)tent my dwelling is pulled up and removed from me;As a (S)weaver I (T)rolled up my life.He (U)cuts me off from the loom; From (V)day until night You make an end of me.

12 Mine age is departed, and is removed from me as a shepherd's tent: I have cut off like a weaver my life: he will cut me off with pining sickness: from day even to night wilt thou make an end of me.

12 My house has been plucked up and vanishes from me like a shepherd's tent; like a weaver, I've taken account of my life, and he cuts me off from the loom day and night you make an end of me.

12 “My dwelling (body) is pulled up and removed from me like a shepherd’s tent;I have rolled up my life as a weaver [rolls up the finished web].He cuts me free from the warp [of the loom];From day to night You bring me to an end.

13 I thought until the morning:He will break all my bones like a lion; You make an end of me day and night.

13 “I composed my soul until morning.(W)Like a lion—so He (X)breaks all my bones,From (Y)day until night You make an end of me.

13 I reckoned till morning, that, as a lion, so will he break all my bones: from day even to night wilt thou make an end of me.

13 I've been swept bare until morning; just like a lion, he breaks all my bones day and night you make an end of me.

13 “I lay down until morning.Like a lion, so He breaks all my bones; From day until night You bring me to an end.

14 I chirp like a swallow or a crane;I moan like a dove.(P)My eyes grow weak looking upward.Lord, I am oppressed; support me.(Q)

14 (Z)Like a swallow, like a crane, so I twitter;I (AA)moan like a dove;My (AB)eyes look wistfully to the heights;O Lord, I am oppressed, be my (AC)security.

14 Like a crane or a swallow, so did I chatter: I did mourn as a dove: mine eyes fail with looking upward: O LORD, I am oppressed; undertake for me.

14 Like a swallow or a crane I chirp, I moan like a dove. My eyes look weakly upward. O Lord, I am oppressed, so stand up for me!

14 “Like a swallow, like a crane, so I chirp;I coo like a dove.My eyes look wistfully upward;O Lord, I am oppressed, take my side and be my security.

15 What can I say?He has spoken to me,and He Himself has done it.I walk along slowly all my years(R)because of the bitterness of my soul,(S)

15 (AD)What shall I say?(f)For He has spoken to me, and He Himself has done it;I will (AE)wander about all my years because of the (AF)bitterness of my soul.

15 What shall I say? he hath both spoken unto me, and himself hath done it: I shall go softly all my years in the bitterness of my soul.

15 What can I say, so I tell myself, since he has done this to me? I will walk slowly all my years because of my soul's anguish.

15 “What shall I say?For He has spoken to me, and He Himself has done it;I will wander aimlessly all my years because of the bitterness of my soul.

16 Lord, because of these promises people live,(T)and in all of them is the life of my spirit as well; You have restored me to health(U)and let me live.(V)

16 “O Lord, (AG)by these things men live,And in all these is the life of my spirit;(g)(AH)O restore me to health and (AI)let me live!

16 O Lord, by these things men live, and in all these things is the life of my spirit: so wilt thou recover me, and make me to live.

16 "My Lord is against them, yet they live, and among all of them who live is his spirit. Now you have restored me to health, so let me live!

16 “O Lord, by these things men live,And in all these is the life of my spirit;Restore me to health and let me live!

17 Indeed, it was for my own welfarethat I had such great bitterness;(W)but Your love has delivered mefrom the Pit of destruction,(X)for You have thrown all my sins behind Your back.(Y)

17 “Lo, for my own welfare I had great bitterness; It is You who has (h)(AJ)kept my soul from the pit of (i)nothingness,For You have (AK)cast all my sins behind Your back.

17 Behold, for peace I had great bitterness: but thou hast in love to my soul delivered it from the pit of corruption: for thou hast cast all my sins behind thy back.

17 Yes, it was for my own good that I suffered extreme anguish. But in love you have held back my life from the Pit in which it has been confined; you have tossed all my sins behind your back.

17 “Indeed, it was for my own well-being that I had such bitterness; But You have loved back my life from the pit of nothingness (destruction),For You have cast all my sins behind Your back.

18 For Sheol cannot thank You;Death cannot praise You.(Z)Those who go down to the Pitcannot hope for Your faithfulness.

18 “For (AL)Sheol cannot thank You,Death cannot praise You;Those who go down (AM)to the pit cannot hope for Your faithfulness.

18 For the grave cannot praise thee, death can not celebrate thee: they that go down into the pit cannot hope for thy truth.

18 For Sheol cannot thank you, death cannot sing your praise; and those who go down to the Pit cannot hope for your faithfulness.

18 “For Sheol cannot praise or thank You,Death cannot praise You and rejoice in You;Those who go down to the pit cannot hope for Your faithfulness.

19 The living, only the living can thank You,as I do today;a father will make Your faithfulness known to children.(AA)

19 “It is the (AN)living who give thanks to You, as I do today;A (AO)father tells his sons about Your faithfulness.

19 The living, the living, he shall praise thee, as I do this day: the father to the children shall make known thy truth.

19 The living yes the living they thank you, just as I am doing today; fathers will tell their children about your faithfulness.

19 “It is the living who give praise and thanks to You, as I do today;A father tells his sons about Your faithfulness.

20 The Lord will(l) save me;we will play stringed instrumentsall the days of our livesat the house of the Lord.(AB)

20 “The Lord will surely save me;So we will (AP)play my songs on stringed instruments(AQ)All the days of our life (AR)at the house of the Lord.”

20 The LORD was ready to save me: therefore we will sing my songs to the stringed instruments all the days of our life in the house of the LORD.

20 The LORD will save me, and we will play my music on strings all the days of our lives in the LORD's Temple.

20 “The Lord is ready to save me;Therefore we will play my songs on stringed instrumentsAll the days of our lives at the house of the Lord.”

21 Now Isaiah(AC) had said, “Let them take a lump of pressed figs and apply it to his infected skin, so that he may recover.”

21 Now (AS)Isaiah had said, “Let them take a cake of figs and apply it to the boil, that he may recover.”

21 For Isaiah had said, Let them take a lump of figs, and lay it for a plaister upon the boil, and he shall recover.

21 Now Isaiah had said, "Let them prepare a poultice of figs and apply it to the boil, so that he may recover."

21 Now Isaiah had said, “Have them take a cake of figs and rub it [as an ointment] on the inflamed spot, that he may recover.”

22 And Hezekiah had asked, “What is the sign that I will go up to the Lord’s temple?”

22 Then Hezekiah had said, “What is the (AT)sign that I shall go up to the house of the Lord?”

22 Hezekiah also had said, What is the sign that I shall go up to the house of the LORD?

22 Hezekiah also had asked, "What will be the sign for me to go up to the LORD's Temple?"

22 Hezekiah also had said, “What is the sign that I will go up to the house of the Lord?”
