Yahweh's Day Of Vengeance

1 What is he, this that cometh from Edom, with stained red clothes of Bozrah, which is so costly cloth, and cometh in so nimbly with all his strength? "I am he that teacheth righteousness, and am of power to help."

1 Who is this that cometh from Edom, with dyed garments from Bozrah? this that is glorious in his apparel, travelling in the greatness of his strength? I that speak in righteousness, mighty to save.

1 Who is this who comes from (A)Edom,With (B)garments of (a)glowing colors from (C)Bozrah,This One who is majestic in His apparel,(b)Marching in the greatness of His strength?“It is I who speak in righteousness, (D)mighty to save.”

1 Who is this coming from Edom(A)in crimson-stained garments from Bozrah—this One who is splendid in His apparel, rising up proudly(a) in His great might? It is I, proclaiming vindication,(b)powerful to save.

1 "Who is this coming from Edom, from Bozrah, in garments stained crimson? Who is this, robed in such splendor, marching in his great might? It is I, speaking in vindication, mighty to save.

2 Wherefore then is thy clothing red, and thy raiment like his that treadeth in the winepress?

2 Wherefore art thou red in thine apparel, and thy garments like him that treadeth in the winefat?

2 Why is Your apparel red,And Your garments like the one who (E)treads in the wine press?

2 Why are Your clothes red,and Your garments like one who treads a winepress?(B)

2 "Why is your clothing red, and your garments like those worn by the ones who tread in the winepress?

3 "I have trodden the press myself alone, and of all people, there was not one with me. Thus have I trodden down mine enemies in my wrath, and set my feet upon them in my indignation: And their blood sprang upon my clothes, and so have I stained all my raiment.

3 I have trodden the winepress alone; and of the people there was none with me: for I will tread them in mine anger, and trample them in my fury; and their blood shall be sprinkled upon my garments, and I will stain all my raiment.

3 (F)I have trodden the wine trough alone,And from the peoples there was no man with Me.I also (G)trod them in My angerAnd (H)trampled them in My wrath; And (I)their (c)lifeblood is sprinkled on My garments,And I (d)stained all My raiment.

3 I trampled the winepress alone, and no one from the nations was with Me.I trampled them in My angerand ground them underfoot in My fury;their blood spattered My garments, and all My clothes were stained.

3 "I have trodden the winepress alone, and from my people no one was with me, I trampled them in my anger and trod them down in my wrath; their lifeblood spattered on my garments, and I stained all my clothing.

4 For that day of vengeance that I have taken in hand, and the year of my deliverance, is come.

4 For the day of vengeance is in mine heart, and the year of my redeemed is come.

4 “For the (J)day of vengeance was in My heart,And My year of redemption has come.

4 For I planned the day of vengeance,(c)(C)and the year of My redemption(d) came.

4 "For the day of vengeance was in my heart, and the year for my redeeming work had come.

5 I looked about me, and there was no man to show me any help. I fell down, and no man held me up. Then I held me by mine own arm, and my ferventness sustained me:

5 And I looked, and there was none to help; and I wondered that there was none to uphold: therefore mine own arm brought salvation unto me; and my fury, it upheld me.

5 “I looked, and there was (K)no one to help,And I was astonished and there was no one to uphold; So My (L)own arm brought salvation to Me,And My wrath upheld Me.

5 I looked, but there was no one to help,(D)and I was amazed that no one assisted;so My arm accomplished victory for Me,and My wrath assisted Me.

5 I looked, but there was no helper, I was appalled that there was no one to give support; so my own arm brought me victory, and as for my wrath, it supported me.

6 and thus have I trodden down the people in my wrath, and bathed them in my displeasure: Insomuch that I have shed their blood upon the earth."

6 And I will tread down the people in mine anger, and make them drunk in my fury, and I will bring down their strength to the earth.

6 “I (M)trod down the peoples in My angerAnd made them (N)drunk in My wrath,And I (e)poured out their lifeblood on the earth.”

6 I crushed nations in My anger;I made them drunk with My wrath(E)and poured out their blood on the ground.(F)

6 I trampled people in my anger; in my wrath I made them drunk and I poured out their lifeblood on the ground."

Remembering Yahweh's Mercy

7 I will declare the goodness of the LORD, yea and the praise of the LORD, for all that he hath given us; for the great good that he hath done for Israel, which he hath given them of his own favour, and according to the multitude of his loving kindnesses.

7 I will mention the lovingkindnesses of the LORD, and the praises of the LORD, according to all that the LORD hath bestowed on us, and the great goodness toward the house of Israel, which he hath bestowed on them according to his mercies, and according to the multitude of his lovingkindnesses.

7 I shall make mention of the (O)lovingkindnesses of the Lord, the praises of the Lord,According to all that the Lord has granted us,And the great (P)goodness toward the house of Israel,Which He has granted them according to His (Q)compassionAnd according to the abundance of His lovingkindnesses.

7 I will make known the Lord’s faithful loveand the Lord’s praiseworthy acts, because of all the Lord has done for us—even the many good thingsHe has done for the house of Israeland has done for them based on His compassionand the abundance of His faithful love.

7 I will recount the gracious deeds of the LORD, the praiseworthy acts of the LORD, according to all the LORD has done for us yes, the great goodness to the house of Israel that he has granted them according to his mercy, according to the abundance of his gracious love.

8 For he said, "These no doubt will be my people, and no shrinking children," and so he was their Saviour.

8 For he said, Surely they are my people, children that will not lie: so he was their Saviour.

8 For He said, “Surely, they are (R)My people,Sons who will not deal falsely.”So He became their (S)Savior.

8 He said, “They are indeed My people, children who will not be disloyal,”and He became their Savior.

8 For he said, "Surely they are my people, children who won't act falsely." And so he became their savior.

9 In their troubles he forsook them not, but the angel that went forth from his presence delivered them. Of very love and kindness that he had unto them, he redeemed them: He hath born them, and carried them up ever since the world began.

9 In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the angel of his presence saved them: in his love and in his pity he redeemed them; and he bare them, and carried them all the days of old.

9 In all their affliction (f)(T)He was afflicted,And the (U)angel of His presence saved them;In His (V)love and in His mercy He (W)redeemed them,And He (X)lifted them and carried them all the days of old.

9 In all their suffering, He suffered,(e)(G)and the Angel of His Presence saved them.He redeemed thembecause of His love and compassion;(H)He lifted them up and carried themall the days of the past.(I)

9 In all their distress he wasn't distressed, but the angel of his presence saved them; in his acts of love and in his acts of pity he redeemed them; he carried them and lifted them up all the days of old.

10 But after they provoked him to wrath and vexed his holy mind, he was their enemy, and fought against them himself.

10 But they rebelled, and vexed his holy Spirit: therefore he was turned to be their enemy, and he fought against them.

10 But they (Y)rebelledAnd grieved His (Z)Holy Spirit; Therefore He turned Himself to become their enemy,He fought against them.

10 But they rebelledand grieved His Holy Spirit.(J)So He became their enemyand fought against them.

10 Yet they rebelled and grieved his Holy Spirit; so he changed and became their enemy, and he himself fought against them.

11 Yet remembered he the old time of Moses and his people: How he brought them from the water of the sea, as a shepherd doth with his sheep; how he had given his holy spirit among them;

11 Then he remembered the days of old, Moses, and his people, saying, Where is he that brought them up out of the sea with the shepherd of his flock? where is he that put his holy Spirit within him?

11 Then (AA)His people remembered the days of old, of Moses.Where is (AB)He who brought them up out of the sea with the (g)shepherds of His flock?Where is He who (AC)put His Holy Spirit in the midst of (h)them,

11 Then He(f) remembered the days of the past, the days of Moses and his people.Where is He who brought them out of the seawith the shepherds(g) of His flock?Where is He who put His Holy Spirit among the flock?

11 Then they remembered the days of old, of Moses his servant. Where is the one who brought up out of the sea the shepherds of his flock? Where is the one who put his Holy Spirit among them,

12 how he had led Moses by the righthand with his glorious arm; how he had divided the water before them, whereby he gat himself an everlasting name;

12 That led them by the right hand of Moses with his glorious arm, dividing the water before them, to make himself an everlasting name?

12 Who caused His (AD)glorious arm to go at the right hand of Moses,Who (AE)divided the waters before them to make for Himself an everlasting name,

12 He sent His glorious armto be at Moses’ right hand, divided the waters before them(K)to obtain eternal fame for Himself,

12 and who made his glorious arm march at Moses' right hand, who divided the waters in front of them to win an everlasting name,

13 how he led them in the deep, as a horse is led in the plain, that they should not stumble.

13 That led them through the deep, as an horse in the wilderness, that they should not stumble?

13 Who led them through the depths?Like the horse in the wilderness, they did not (AF)stumble;

13 and led them through the depthslike a horse in the wilderness,so that they did not stumble.

13 who led them through the depths? Like a horse in the open desert, they did not stumble;

14 The spirit of the LORD led them as a tame beast goeth in the field. Thus, O God, hast thou led thy people, to make thyself a glorious name withal.

14 As a beast goeth down into the valley, the Spirit of the LORD caused him to rest: so didst thou lead thy people, to make thyself a glorious name.

14 As the cattle which go down into the valley,The Spirit of the (AG)Lord gave (i)them rest.So You (AH)led Your people,To make for Yourself a glorious name.

14 Like cattle that go down into the valley, the Spirit of the Lord gave them(h) rest. You led Your people this wayto make a glorious name for Yourself.

14 like cattle that go down into the valley, the Spirit of the LORD gave them rest. For you led your people, to win for yourself a glorious name.

Prayer For Mercy

15 Look down then from heaven, and behold the dwelling place of thy Sanctuary and thy glory. How is it that thy jealousy, thy strength, the multitude of thy mercies and thy loving-kindness, will not be entreated of us?

15 Look down from heaven, and behold from the habitation of thy holiness and of thy glory: where is thy zeal and thy strength, the sounding of thy bowels and of thy mercies toward me? are they restrained?

15 (AI)Look down from heaven and see from Your holy and glorious (AJ)habitation;Where are Your (AK)zeal and Your mighty deeds? The (AL)stirrings of Your heart and Your compassion are restrained toward me.

15 Look down from heaven and see(L)from Your lofty home—holy and beautiful.Where is Your zeal and Your might?Your yearning(i) and Your compassionare withheld from me.

15 Look down from heaven, and see from your holy and glorious dwelling. Where are your zeal and your might? Where are the yearning of your heart and your compassion? They are held back from me.

16 Yet art thou our father: For Abraham knoweth us not, neither is Israel acquainted with us. But thou LORD art our father and redeemer, and thy name is everlasting.

16 Doubtless thou art our father, though Abraham be ignorant of us, and Israel acknowledge us not: thou, O LORD, art our father, our redeemer; thy name is from everlasting.

16 For You are our (AM)Father, though (AN)Abraham does not know usAnd Israel does not recognize us.You, O Lord, are our Father,Our (AO)Redeemer from of old is Your name.

16 Yet You are our Father, even though Abraham does not know usand Israel doesn’t recognize us.You, Yahweh, are our Father;from ancient times,Your name is our Redeemer.(M)

16 But you are our Father, even Abraham does not know us and Israel has not acknowledged us; you are he, O LORD, our Father, from long ago, "Our Redeemer' is your name.

17 O LORD wherefore hast thou led us out of thy way? Wherefore hast thou hardened our hearts, that we fear thee not? Be at one with us again, for thy servants' sake that are of the generation of thine heritage.

17 O LORD, why hast thou made us to err from thy ways, and hardened our heart from thy fear? Return for thy servants' sake, the tribes of thine inheritance.

17 Why, O Lord, do You (AP)cause us to stray from Your waysAnd (AQ)harden our heart from fearing You?(AR)Return for the sake of Your servants, the tribes of Your heritage.

17 Why, Yahweh, do You make us stray from Your ways? You harden our hearts so we do not fear(j) You.(N)Return, because of Your servants, the tribes of Your heritage.

17 Why, LORD, do you make us wander from your ways and harden our hearts, so that we do not fear you? Turn back for the sake of your servants, for the sake of the tribes that are your heritage.

18 Thy people hath had but little of thy Sanctuary in possession, for our enemies have taken it in:

18 The people of thy holiness have possessed it but a little while: our adversaries have trodden down thy sanctuary.

18 Your holy people possessed Your sanctuary for a little while,Our adversaries have (AS)trodden it down.

18 Your holy people had a possession(k)for a little while, but our enemies have trampled downYour sanctuary.(O)

18 Your holy people took possession for a little while, but now our enemies have trampled down your sanctuary.

19 And we are become even as we were from the beginning: but thou art not their LORD, for they have not called upon thy name.

19 We are thine: thou never barest rule over them; they were not called by thy name.

19 We have become like those over whom You have never ruled,Like those who were not called by Your name.

19 We have become like those You never ruled over, like those not called by Your name.(P) >

19 For a long time we have been those you do not rule, those who are not called by your name.
