Jeremiah 49:17

A Message Concerning Edom

¹⁶ The horror you inspire has deceived you, and the pride of your heart, you who live in the clefts of the rock, who hold the height of the hill. Though you make your nest as high as the eagle's, I will bring you down from there, declares the LORD. ¹⁷ “Edom will become an object of horror; everyone who passes by it will be horrified and will hiss at all its wounds. ¹⁸ As when Sodom and Gomorrah and their neighboring cities were overthrown, says the LORD, no man shall dwell there, no man shall sojourn in her.

Jeremiah 50:13

Because of the wrath of the LORD she shall not be inhabited but shall be an utter desolation; everyone who passes by Babylon shall be appalled, and hiss because of all her wounds.

Ezekiel 35:7

I will make Mount Seir a waste and a desolation, and I will cut off from it all who come and go.

Jeremiah 49:13

For I have sworn by myself, declares the LORD, that Bozrah shall become a horror, a taunt, a waste, and a curse, and all her cities shall be perpetual wastes."

making their land a horror, a thing to be hissed at forever. Everyone who passes by it is horrified and shakes his head.

and Babylon shall become a heap of ruins, the haunt of jackals, a horror and a hissing, without inhabitant.

Zephaniah 2:15

This is the exultant city that lived securely, that said in her heart, "I am, and there is no one else." What a desolation she has become, a lair for wild beasts! Everyone who passes by her hisses and shakes his fist.
