¹ Then Bildad, the Shuhite, answered, and said,

¹ Bildad from Shuah responded and said:

² Dominion and fear are with God; he makes peace in his high places.

² “^(A)Dominion and awe ^(b)belong to HimWho establishes peace in ^(B)His heights.

² Dominion and fear are with him, he maketh peace in his high places.

² Dominion and dread^(A) belong to Him,the One who establishes harmony in the heavens.^(a)

² "Dominion and fear belong to God; who fashions peace in his high heaven.

³ Is there any number to his armies? And upon whom does his light not arise?

³ “Is there any number to ^(C)His troops?And upon whom does His light not rise?

³ Is there any number of his armies? and upon whom doth not his light arise?

³ Can His troops be numbered?Does His light not shine on everyone?

³ Is there any limit to his armies? On whom does his light not shine?

⁴ How then can man be justified with God? Or how can he that is born of a woman be clean?

⁴ “How then can a man be ^(D)just with God?Or how can he be ^(E)clean who is born of woman?

⁴ How then can man be justified with God? or how can he be clean that is born of a woman?

⁴ How can a person be justified before God?^(B)How can one born of woman be pure?^(C)

⁴ How can a human being become right with God? How can a human being be pure?

⁵ Behold, even the moon shall not shine, neither are the stars pure in his sight.

⁵ “If even ^(F)the moon has no brightnessAnd the ^(G)stars are not pure in His sight,

⁵ Behold even to the moon, and it shineth not; yea, the stars are not pure in his sight.

⁵ If even the moon does not shineand the stars are not pure in His sight,^(D)

⁵ Behold, even the moon isn't bright, and the stars aren't pure in his eyes.

⁶ How much less man, who is as a worm, and the son of man, who is also a worm?

⁶ How much less ^(H)man, that ^(I)maggot,And the son of man, that worm!”

⁶ How much less man, that is a worm? and the son of man, which is a worm?

⁶ how much less man, who is a maggot,and the son of man, who is a worm!^(E)

⁶ How much less is man, who is only a maggot, or a man's children, who are only worms!"
