“My days are swifter than a weaver’s shuttle,
And come to an end without hope.

So Jacob said to Pharaoh, “The

years of my sojourning are one hundred and thirty; few and unpleasant have been the years of my life, nor have they attained the years that my fathers lived during the days of their sojourning.”

For we are sojourners before You, and tenants, as all our fathers were; our days on the earth are like a shadow, and there is no hope.

“Behold, You have made my days as handbreadths,
And my lifetime as nothing in Your sight;
Surely every man at his best is a mere breath.

For a thousand years in Your sight
Are like yesterday when it passes by,

Or as a watch in the night.

My days are like a

lengthened shadow,

And I wither away like grass.

Man is like a mere breath;

His days are like a passing shadow.
