1 Let not your heart be troubled: Believe on God, and, on me, believe.
1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.
1 "Don't let your hearts be troubled. Believe in God, believe also in me.
2 In the house of my Father, are, many dwellings; or else I would have told you, I go to prepare a place for you.
2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
2 There are many rooms in my Father's house. If there weren't, I wouldn't have told you that I am going away to prepare a place for you, would I?
3 And, if I go, and prepare a place for you, again, am I coming, and will take you home unto - myself, that, where, I, am, ye also, may be.
3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
3 And since I'm going away to prepare a place for you, I'll come back again and welcome you into my presence, so that you may be where I am.
5 Thomas saith unto him - Lord! we know not whither thou goest: How know we, the way?
5 Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way?
5 Thomas asked him, "Lord, we don't know where you are going, so how can we know the way?"
6 Jesus saith unto him - I, am the way, and the truth, and the life: No one, cometh unto the Father, but through me.
6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
6 Jesus told him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
7 If ye had been getting to know me, my Father also, had ye known: from henceforth, are ye getting to know him, and have seen him.
7 If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.
7 If you have known me, you will also know my Father. From now on you know him and have seen him."
8 Philip saith unto him - Lord! show us the Father, and it sufficeth us.
8 Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us.
8 Philip told him, "Lord, show us the Father, and that will satisfy us."
9 Jesus saith unto him - So long a time as this, have I been, with you, - and thou hast not come to know me, Philip? He that hath seen me, hath seen the Father. How art, thou, saying, Show us the Father?
9 Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?
9 "Have I been with you all this time, Philip, and you still do not know me?" Jesus asked him. "The person who has seen me has seen the Father. So how can you say, "Show us the Father'?
10 Believest thou not, that, I, am in the Father, and, the Father, is, in me? The things which I am saying unto you, from myself, I speak not; but, the Father, within me abiding, doeth his works.
10 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.
10 You believe, don't you, that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words that I say to you I don't speak on my own. It is the Father who dwells in me and who carries out his work.
11 Believe me, That, I, am in the Father, and, the Father, in me; - or else, on account of the works themselves, believe ye.
11 Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works' sake.
11 Believe me, I am in the Father and the Father is in me. Otherwise, believe me because of what I've been doing.
12 Verily, verily, I say unto you - He that believeth on me, the works which, I, am doing, he also, shall do; and, greater than these, shall he do, because, I, unto the Father, am going, -
12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
12 Truly, I tell all of you emphatically, the one who believes in me will also do what I'm doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I'm going to the Father.
13 And because, whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, the same, will I do, that, the Father, may be glorified, in the Son:
13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
13 I'll do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
16 And, I, will request the Father, and, Another Advocate, will he give unto you, that he may be with you age-abidingly,
16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
16 I will ask the Father to give you another Helper, to be with you always.
17 The Spirit of truth, - which, the world, cannot receive, because it beholdeth it not, nor getteth to know it. But, ye, are getting to know it; because, with you, it abideth, and, in you, it is.
17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
17 He is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor recognizes him. But you recognize him, because he lives with you and will be in you.
18 I will not leave you bereft, - I am coming unto you.
18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.
18 I will not leave you as orphans; I am coming to you.
18 I'm not going to forsake you like orphans. I will come back to you.
19 Yet a little, and, the world, no longer beholdeth me; but, ye, behold me, - Because, I, live, ye also, shall live.
19 Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also.
19 "In a little while the world will no longer see me, but you will see me. Because I live, you will live also.
20 In that day, shall ye get to know, That, I, am in my Father, and, ye, in me, and, I, in you.
20 At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.
20 At that time, you'll know that I am in my Father, that you are in me, and that I am in you.
21 He that hath my commandments and keepeth them, he, it is that loveth me; and, he that loveth me, shall be loved by my Father, and, I, will love him, and will manifest, myself, unto him.
21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.
21 The person who has my commandments and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I, too, will love him and reveal myself to him."
22 Judas, not the Iscariot, saith unto him - Lord! what hath happened, that, unto us, thou art about to manifest thyself, and, not unto the world?
22 Judas saith unto him, not Iscariot, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not unto the world?
22 Judas (not Iscariot) asked him, "Lord, how is it that you are going to reveal yourself to us and not to the world?"
23 Jesus answered, and said unto him - If any man be loving me, my word, he will keep, and, my Father, will love him, - and, unto him, will we come, and, an abode with him, will we make.
23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.
23 Jesus answered him, "If anyone loves me, he will keep my word. Then my Father will love him, and we will go to him and make our home within him.
24 He that loveth me not, doth not keep, my word; - and, the word which ye hear, is not mine, but, the Father's who sent me.
24 He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me.
24 The one who doesn't love me doesn't keep my words. The words that you're hearing me say are not mine, but come from the Father who sent me.
25 These things, have I spoken unto you, With you abiding;
25 “These things I have spoken to you while abiding with you.
25 These things have I spoken unto you, being yet present with you.
25 “I have spoken these things to you while I remain with you.
25 "I have told you this while I am still with you.
26 But, the Advocate, The Holy Spirit, which the Father will send in my name, He, will teach you all things, and will put you in mind, of all things which, I, told you.
26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and remind you of everything that I have told you.
27 Peace, I leave with you, My own peace, give, I, unto you, - Not as, the world, giveth, give, I, unto you: - Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
27 I'm leaving you at peace. I'm giving you my own peace. I'm not giving it to you as the world gives. So don't let your hearts be troubled, and don't be afraid.
28 Ye heard that, I, said unto you - I go my way, and I come unto you, - Had ye loved me, ye would have rejoiced, that I am going unto the Father, for, the Father, is, greater than I.
28 Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I.
28 You have heard me tell you, "I'm going away, but I'm coming back to you.' If you loved me, you would rejoice that I'm going to the Father, because the Father is greater than I am.
29 But, now, have I told you, before it cometh to pass, that, whensoever it shall come to pass, ye may believe.
29 And now I have told you before it come to pass, that, when it is come to pass, ye might believe.
29 I've told you this now, before I leave, so that when I do leave, you will believe.
30 No longer, many things, will I speak with you; for, the world's ruler, is coming, and, in me, hath, nothing, -
30 Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me.
30 I won't talk with you much longer, because the ruler of this world is coming. He has no power over me.
31 But, that the world may get to know that I love the Father, and just as the Father hath given me commandment, so, I do. Be rousing yourselves! let us be leading on from hence.
31 But that the world may know that I love the Father; and as the Father gave me commandment, even so I do. Arise, let us go hence.
31 But I'm doing what the Father has commanded me, to let the world know that I love the Father. Get up! Let us leave this place."
