²⁷ And at the going down of the sun, Joshua gave commandment, and they took them down off the trees and cast them into the cave, where they hid themselves, and laid great stones on the cave's mouth, which remain unto this day. ²⁸ And that same day Joshua took Makkedah, and smote it with the edge of the sword, and the king thereof also, and utterly destroyed them and all the souls that were therein, and let nought remain. And he did to the king of Makkedah, as he did to the king of Jericho. ²⁹ Then Joshua went from Makkedah, and all Israel with him unto Libnah, and fought against Libnah.
