² Aleph He has led me and brought me into darkness, but not into light.

² He hath led me, and brought me into darkness, but not into light.

¹⁸ Then I thought: My future^(e) is lost,as well as my hope from the Lord.

¹⁸ So I say, "My strength is gone as is my hope in the LORD."

²⁰ Zain My soul shall have them still in remembrance because it is humbled in me.

²⁰ My soul hath them still in remembrance, and is humbled in me.

²⁰ Surely ^(Z)my soul remembersAnd is ^(AA)bowed down within me.

²⁰ I continually remember themand have become depressed.^(g)(U)

²⁰ My mind keeps reflecting on it, and I become depressed.

²² Chet It is of the LORD's mercies that we are not consumed because his mercies never diminish.

²² It is of the LORD'S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.

²² The Lord’s ^(AC)lovingkindnesses ^(f)indeed never cease,^(AD)For His compassions never fail.

²² ח KhetBecause of the Lord’s faithful love^(W)we do not perish,^(h)for His mercies never end.

²² Because of the LORD's gracious love we are not consumed, since his compassions never end.

²⁴ Chet The LORD is my portion, saith my soul; therefore I will wait for him.
