1 The LORD told Moses,

2 “Speak to the children of Israel and say to them, ‘When a man makes a (a)special vow [consecrating himself or a member of his family], he shall be valued according to your [established system of] valuation of people belonging to the Lord [that is, the priest accepts from the man making the vow a specified amount of money for the temple treasury in place of the actual person].

8 But if the person is too poor to pay your valuation, then he shall be placed before the priest, and the priest shall value him; according to the ability of the one who vowed, the priest shall value him.

8 But if he is poorer than your valuation, then he shall be placed before the priest and the priest shall value him; (D)according to (a)the means of the one who vowed, the priest shall value him.

8 But if he be poorer than thy estimation, then he shall present himself before the priest, and the priest shall value him; according to his ability that vowed shall the priest value him.

8 But if one is too poor to pay the assessment, he must present the person before the priest and the priest will set a value for him. The priest will set a value for him according to what the one making the vow can afford.

8 But if he is too poor to be valuated, then cause him to stand before the priest and let the priest set a value on him according to the ability of the one making the vow.

Redemption Of Vowed Animals

9 ‘Now if it is an animal of the kind which men can present as an offering to the Lord, any such that one gives to the Lord shall be holy.

9 ‘Now if it is an animal of the kind which (b)men can present as an offering to the Lord, any such that one gives to the Lord shall be holy.

9 And if it be a beast, whereof men bring an offering unto the LORD, all that any man giveth of such unto the LORD shall be holy.

9 “If the vow involves one of the animals that may be brought as an offering to the Lord, any of these he gives to the Lord will be holy.

9 "If it's an animal from which they make an offering to the LORD, everything that he gives to the LORD from it will be holy.

10 He shall not replace it or exchange it, a good for a bad, or a bad for a good; but if he does exchange an animal for an animal, then both the original offering and its substitute shall be holy.

10 (E)He shall not replace it or exchange it, a good for a bad, or a bad for a good; or if he does exchange animal for animal, then both it and its substitute shall become holy.

10 He shall not alter it, nor change it, a good for a bad, or a bad for a good: and if he shall at all change beast for beast, then it and the exchange thereof shall be holy.

10 He may not replace it or make a substitution for it, either good for bad, or bad for good.(G) But if he does substitute one animal for another, both that animal and its substitute will be holy.

10 He is not to substitute it or exchange it the good with the bad or the bad with the good. If he ever makes an exchange of an animal for an animal, then it and what's being exchanged is holy.

11 If it is any unclean animal of the kind which men do not present as an offering to the Lord, then he shall bring the animal before the priest,

11 If, however, it is any unclean animal of the kind which (c)men do not present as an offering to the Lord, then he shall place the animal before the priest.

11 And if it be any unclean beast, of which they do not offer a sacrifice unto the LORD, then he shall present the beast before the priest:

11 “If the vow involves any of the unclean animals that may not be brought as an offering to the Lord, the animal must be presented before the priest.

11 If any animal is unclean, which cannot be brought to the LORD as an offering, make the animal stand in the presence of the priest,

12 and the priest shall value it as either good or bad; it shall be as you, the priest, value it.

12 The priest shall value it (d)as either good or bad; as you, the priest, value it, so it shall be.

12 And the priest shall value it, whether it be good or bad: as thou valuest it, who art the priest, so shall it be.

12 The priest will set its value, whether high or low; the price will be set as the priest makes the assessment for you.

12 then the priest will evaluate it as to whether it is good or bad. According to your that is, the priest's valuation, so it is to be.

13 But if he ever wishes to redeem it, then he shall add one-fifth of it to your valuation.

13 But if he should ever wish to redeem it, then he shall add one-fifth of it to your valuation.

13 But if he will at all redeem it, then he shall add a fifth part thereof unto thy estimation.

13 If the one who brought it decides to redeem it, he must add a fifth to the(a) assessed value.(H)

13 If a kinsman redeemer decides to redeem it, then he is to add a fifth to your valuation."

Redemption Of Vowed Houses

14 ‘If a man consecrates his house as sacred to the Lord, the priest shall appraise it as either good or bad; as the priest appraises it, so shall it stand.

14 ‘Now if a man consecrates his house as holy to the Lord, then the priest shall value it (e)as either good or bad; as the priest values it, so it shall stand.

14 And when a man shall sanctify his house to be holy unto the LORD, then the priest shall estimate it, whether it be good or bad: as the priest shall estimate it, so shall it stand.

14 “When a man consecrates his house as holy to the Lord, the priest will assess its value, whether high or low. The price will stand just as the priest assesses it.

14 "If a person consecrates his house to be holy to the LORD, then the priest is to set a value for it as to its worth, whether good or bad. As the priest sets value on it, so it will stand.

15 If the one who consecrates his house should wish to redeem it, then he shall add one-fifth of your valuation price to it, so that it may be his.

15 Yet if the one who consecrates it should wish to redeem his house, then he shall add one-fifth of your valuation price to it, so that it may be his.

15 And if he that sanctified it will redeem his house, then he shall add the fifth part of the money of thy estimation unto it, and it shall be his.

15 But if the one who consecrated his house redeems it, he must add a fifth to the(b) assessed value, and it will be his.(I)

15 And if he that consecrated it wishes to redeem his house, he is to add one fifth to your valuation, after which it is to belong to him.

Redemption Of Vowed Fields

16 ‘And if a man consecrates to the Lord part of a field of his own property, then your valuation shall be proportionate to the seed needed for it; a homer of barley seed shall be valued at fifty shekels of silver.

16 ‘Again, if a man consecrates to the Lord part of the fields of his own property, then your valuation shall be (f)proportionate to the seed needed for it: a homer of barley seed at fifty shekels of silver.

16 And if a man shall sanctify unto the LORD some part of a field of his possession, then thy estimation shall be according to the seed thereof: an homer of barley seed shall be valued at fifty shekels of silver.

16 “If a man consecrates to the Lord any part of a field that he possesses, your assessment of value will be proportional to the seed needed to sow it, at the rate of 50 silver shekels for every five bushels(c) of barley seed.(d)

16 "If a person consecrates to the LORD a portion of the field from his inheritance, then your valuation is to be based on its capacity for yielding a harvest. Each omer of barley is to be valued at 50 shekels of silver.

17 If he consecrates his field during the Year of Jubilee, it shall stand according to your valuation.

17 If he consecrates his field as of the year of jubilee, according to your valuation it shall stand.

17 If he sanctify his field from the year of jubile, according to thy estimation it shall stand.

17 If he consecrates his field during the Year of Jubilee,(J) the price will stand according to your assessment.

17 If he consecrates his field in the year of jubilee, it is to be based on your valuation.

18 But if he consecrates his field after the Jubilee, then the priest shall calculate the price for him in proportion to the years that remain until the Year of Jubilee; and it shall be deducted from your valuation.

18 If he consecrates his field after the jubilee, however, then the priest shall calculate the price for (g)him (h)proportionate to the years that are left until the year of jubilee; and it shall be deducted from your valuation.

18 But if he sanctify his field after the jubile, then the priest shall reckon unto him the money according to the years that remain, even unto the year of the jubile, and it shall be abated from thy estimation.

18 But if he consecrates his field after the Jubilee, the priest will calculate the price for him in proportion to the years left until the next Year of Jubilee, so that your assessment will be reduced.

18 If he consecrates his field after the jubilee, then the priest is to account to him the silver according to the years that remain until the year of jubilee, with a deduction corresponding to your valuation.

19 If the one who consecrates the field should ever wish to redeem it, then he shall add one-fifth of the appraisal price to it, so that it may return to him.

19 If the one who consecrates it should ever wish to redeem the field, then he shall add one-fifth of your valuation price to it, so that it may pass to him.

19 And if he that sanctified the field will in any wise redeem it, then he shall add the fifth part of the money of thy estimation unto it, and it shall be assured to him.

19 If the one who consecrated the field decides to redeem it, he must add a fifth to the(e) assessed value, and the field will transfer back to him.

19 "If the one who consecrated the field intends to redeem it, then he is to add one fifth of your valuation to it in silver, then it is to be established as his.

20 If he does not redeem the field, but has sold it to another man, it may no longer be redeemed.

20 Yet if he will not redeem the field, (i)but has sold the field to another man, it may no longer be redeemed;

20 And if he will not redeem the field, or if he have sold the field to another man, it shall not be redeemed any more.

20 But if he does not redeem the field or if he has sold it to another man, it is no longer redeemable.

20 But if he won't redeem the field, but instead sells it to another person, then it is not to be redeemed anymore.

21 When the field reverts in the Jubilee, the field shall be holy to the Lord, like a field set apart (devoted); the priest shall possess it as his property.

21 and when it (j)reverts in the jubilee, the field shall be holy to the Lord, like a field (k)set apart; (F)it shall be for the priest as his (l)property.

21 But the field, when it goeth out in the jubile, shall be holy unto the LORD, as a field devoted; the possession thereof shall be the priest's.

21 When the field is released in the Jubilee, it will be holy to the Lord like a field permanently set apart; it becomes the priest’s property.

21 When the field is released in the jubilee, it will be holy to the LORD. As a field that's devoted, it is to belong to the priest as his inheritance.

22 Or if a man consecrates to the Lord a field which he has bought, which is not part of the field of his [ancestral] property,

22 Or if he consecrates to the Lord a field which he has bought, which is not a part of the field of his own (m)property,

22 And if a man sanctify unto the LORD a field which he hath bought, which is not of the fields of his possession;

22 “If a person consecrates to the Lord a field he has purchased that is not part of his inherited landholding,

22 If he consecrates a field that he had bought and that isn't part of his inheritance,

23 then the priest shall calculate for him the amount of your valuation up to the Year of Jubilee; and the man shall give that [amount] on that day as a holy thing to the Lord.

23 then the priest shall calculate for (n)him the amount of your valuation up to the year of jubilee; and he shall on that day give your valuation as holy to the Lord.

23 Then the priest shall reckon unto him the worth of thy estimation, even unto the year of the jubile: and he shall give thine estimation in that day, as a holy thing unto the LORD.

23 then the priest will calculate for him the amount of the(f) assessment up to the Year of Jubilee, and the person will pay the assessed value on that day as a holy offering to the Lord.

23 then the priest is to account to him the evaluated worth until the year of jubilee. Then he is to give the amount of valuation on that day as a holy gift to the LORD.

24 In the Year of Jubilee the field shall return to the one from whom it was purchased, to whom the land belonged [as his ancestral inheritance].

24 In the year of jubilee the field shall return to the one from whom he bought it, to whom the possession of the land belongs.

24 In the year of the jubile the field shall return unto him of whom it was bought, even to him to whom the possession of the land did belong.

24 In the Year of Jubilee the field will return to the one he bought it from,(K) the original owner.

24 During the year of jubilee, the field is to be returned by the one who originally sold it that is, to the owner of the land.

25 Every valuation of yours shall be in accordance with the sanctuary shekel; twenty gerahs shall make a shekel.

25 Every valuation of yours, moreover, shall be after (G)the shekel of the sanctuary. The shekel shall be twenty gerahs.

25 And all thy estimations shall be according to the shekel of the sanctuary: twenty gerahs shall be the shekel.

25 All your assessed values will be measured by the standard sanctuary shekel, 20 gerahs to the shekel.(L)

25 Every valuation is to be according to the shekel of the sanctuary, evaluated at 20 gerahs to the shekel.

Redemption Of The Firstborn

26 ‘However, the firstborn among animals, which as a firstborn belongs to the Lord, no man may consecrate, whether an ox or a sheep. It is [already] the Lord’s.

26 (H)However, a firstborn among animals, which as a firstborn belongs to the Lord, no man may consecrate it; whether ox or sheep, it is the Lord’s.

26 Only the firstling of the beasts, which should be the LORD'S firstling, no man shall sanctify it; whether it be ox, or sheep: it is the LORD'S.

26 “But no one can consecrate a firstborn of the livestock, whether an animal from the herd or flock, to the Lord, because a firstborn already belongs to the Lord.(M)

26 "No person is to consecrate the firstborn, because the firstborn of the animals already belongs to the LORD. Whether ox or goat, it belongs to the LORD.

27 If it is among the unclean animals, the owner may redeem it in accordance with your valuation, and add one-fifth to it; or if it is not redeemed, then it shall be sold in accordance with your valuation.

27 But if it is among the unclean animals, then he shall (o)redeem it according to your valuation and add to it one-fifth of it; and if it is not redeemed, then it shall be sold according to your valuation.

27 And if it be of an unclean beast, then he shall redeem it according to thine estimation, and shall add a fifth part of it thereto: or if it be not redeemed, then it shall be sold according to thy estimation.

27 If it is one of the unclean livestock, it must be ransomed according to your assessment by adding a fifth of its value to it. If it is not redeemed, it can be sold according to your assessment.(N)

27 If it's an unclean animal, then he is to ransom it according to your valuation, adding a fifth to it. If it's not redeemed, then it is to be sold according to your valuation.

Things Permanently Dedicated To The Lord

28 ‘But nothing that a man (b)sets apart [that is, devotes as an offering] to the Lord out of all that he has, of man or of animal or of the fields of his own property, shall be sold or redeemed. Anything devoted to destruction (banned, cursed) is most holy to the Lord.

28 ‘Nevertheless, (I)anything which a man (p)sets apart to the Lord out of all that he has, of man or animal or of the fields of his own property, shall not be sold or redeemed. Anything (q)devoted to destruction is most holy to the Lord.

28 Notwithstanding no devoted thing, that a man shall devote unto the LORD of all that he hath, both of man and beast, and of the field of his possession, shall be sold or redeemed: every devoted thing is most holy unto the LORD.

28 “Nothing that a man permanently sets apart to the Lord from all he owns, whether a person, an animal, or his inherited landholding, can be sold or redeemed; everything set apart is especially holy to the Lord.

28 However, any devoted thing that a person consecrates to the LORD from what he owns whether man, animals, or inherited fields is not to be sold or redeemed. Any devoted thing is most sacred. It belongs to the LORD.

29 No one who may have been set apart among men shall be ransomed [from death], he shall most certainly be put to death.

29 No (r)one who may have been (s)set apart among men shall be ransomed; he shall surely be put to death.

29 None devoted, which shall be devoted of men, shall be redeemed; but shall surely be put to death.

29 No person who has been set apart for destruction is to be ransomed; he must be put to death.(O)

29 But anyone who is completely devoted from among human beings is not to be ransomed. He is certainly to be put to death.

Redemption Of The Tithe

30 ‘And all the tithe (tenth part) of the land, whether the seed of the land or the fruit of the tree, is the Lord’s; it is holy to the Lord.(A)

30 ‘Thus (J)all the tithe of the land, of the seed of the land or of the fruit of the tree, is the Lord’s; it is holy to the Lord.

30 And all the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land, or of the fruit of the tree, is the LORD'S: it is holy unto the LORD.

30 “Every tenth of the land’s produce, grain from the soil or fruit from the trees, belongs to the Lord;(P) it is holy to the Lord.

30 "Any tithes of the land from grain grown on the land or from fruit grown on the trees belong to the LORD. They are sacred to the LORD.

31 If a man wishes to redeem any part of his tithe, he shall add one-fifth to it.

31 If, therefore, a man wishes to redeem part of his tithe, he shall add to it one-fifth of it.

31 And if a man will at all redeem ought of his tithes, he shall add thereto the fifth part thereof.

31 If a man decides to redeem any part of this tenth, he must add a fifth to its value.

31 But if a person wishes to redeem his tithe, he is to add a fifth to it.

32 For every tithe of the herd or flock, whatever (c)passes under the [shepherd’s] staff, the tenth one shall be holy to the Lord.(B)

32 For every tenth part of herd or flock, whatever (K)passes under the rod, the tenth one shall be holy to the Lord.

32 And concerning the tithe of the herd, or of the flock, even of whatsoever passeth under the rod, the tenth shall be holy unto the LORD.

32 Every tenth animal from the herd or flock, which passes under the shepherd’s rod,(Q) will be holy to the Lord.

32 All the tithes from cattle and flocks that pass under the measuring rod are sacred to the LORD.

33 The man is not to be concerned whether the animal is good or bad, nor shall he exchange it. But if he does exchange it, then both it and its substitute shall become holy; it shall not be redeemed.’”

33 (L)He is not to be concerned whether it is good or bad, nor shall he exchange it; or if he does exchange it, then both it and its substitute shall become holy. It shall not be redeemed.’”

33 He shall not search whether it be good or bad, neither shall he change it: and if he change it at all, then both it and the change thereof shall be holy; it shall not be redeemed.

33 He is not to inspect whether it is good or bad, and he is not to make a substitution for it. But if he does make a substitution, both the animal and its substitute will be holy;(R) they cannot be redeemed.”(S)

33 He is not to examine it to see if it's good or bad or even exchange it. If he does exchange it, what has been exchanged as well as its substitute is sacred. It is not to be redeemed."
