The righteous man perishes, and no man takes it to heart;
And devout men are taken away, while no one understands.
For the righteous man is taken away from evil,

And I heard a voice from heaven, saying, “Write, ‘Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on!’” “Yes,” says the Spirit, “so that they may rest from their labors, for their deeds follow with them.”

Was carried

For He will give His angels charge concerning you,
To guard you in all your ways.

and the field is the world; and as for the good seed, these are the sons of the kingdom; and the tares are the sons of the evil one;

And He will send forth His angels with a great trumpet and they will gather together His

elect from the four winds, from one end of the sky to the other.

Therefore, since the children share in

flesh and blood, He Himself likewise also partook of the same, that through death He might render powerless him who had the power of death, that is, the devil,

Abraham's

I say to you that many will come from east and west, and recline at the table with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven;

There was reclining on Jesus’ bosom one of His disciples, whom Jesus loved.

Peter, turning around, *saw the disciple whom Jesus loved following them; the one who also had leaned back on His bosom at the supper and said, “Lord, who is the one who betrays You?”

The rich

But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night

your soul is required of you; and now who will own what you have prepared?’

“They spend their days in prosperity,
And suddenly they go down to Sheol.

Even those who trust in their wealth
And boast in the abundance of their riches?

Surely You set them in slippery places;
You cast them down to

destruction.

The wicked is thrust down by his wrongdoing,
But the righteous has a refuge when he dies.

For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world, and forfeit his soul?

For the sun rises with

a scorching wind and withers the grass; and its flower falls off and the beauty of its appearance is destroyed; so too the rich man in the midst of his pursuits will fade away.

and He Himself

bore our sins in His body on the

cross, so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; for by His wounds you were healed.

And was buried

When he came in, he ate and drank; and he said, “See now to this cursed woman and bury her, for she is a king’s daughter.”

So then, I have seen the wicked buried, those who used to go in and out from the holy place, and they are soon forgotten in the city where they did thus. This too is futility.

“All the kings of the nations lie in glory,
Each in his own tomb.

‘What right do you have here,
And whom do you have here,
That you have hewn a tomb for yourself here,
You who hew a tomb on the height,
You who carve a resting place for yourself in the rock?
