And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation:
‘ Even the dust of your city which clings to our feet we wipe off in protest against you; yet be sure of this, that the kingdom of God has come near.’
“ The Law and the Prophets were proclaimed until John; since that time the gospel of the kingdom of God has been preached, and everyone is forcing his way into it.
While they were listening to these things, Jesus went on to tell a parable, because
He was near Jerusalem, and they supposed that the kingdom of God was going to appear immediately.
So when they had come together, they were asking Him, saying, “Lord,
is it at this time You are restoring the kingdom to Israel?”
They will say to you, ‘Look there! Look here!’ Do not go away, and do not run after them.
In the days of those kings the
God of heaven will set up a kingdom which will never be destroyed, and that kingdom will not be left for another people; it will crush and put an end to all these kingdoms, but it will itself endure forever.
said to me, “This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel saying, ‘ Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ says the Lord of hosts.
“ My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, then My servants would be fighting so that I would not be handed over to the Jews; but as it is, My kingdom is not of this realm.”
