But I tell you of a truth, many widows were in Israel in the days of Elias, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, when great famine was throughout all the land;
At that very time He rejoiced greatly in the Holy Spirit, and said, “I praise You, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and intelligent and have revealed them to infants. Yes, Father, for this way was well-pleasing in Your sight.
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
your ways My ways,” declares the Lord.
Is it not lawful for me to do what I wish with what is my own? Or is your eye envious because I am generous?’
Now the woman was a
Gentile, of the Syrophoenician race. And she kept asking Him to cast the demon out of her daughter.
For He says to Moses, “
I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.”
made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His kind intention which He purposed in Him
1 Kings 17:1
Now Elijah the Tishbite, who was of
the settlers of Gilead, said to Ahab, “ As the Lord, the God of Israel lives, before whom I stand, surely there shall be neither dew nor rain these years, except by my word.”
And He did not do many
miracles there because of their unbelief.
