Now when he came nigh to the gate of the city, behold, there was a dead man carried out, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow: and much people of the city was with her.
for he had an
only daughter, about twelve years old, and she was dying. But as He went, the crowds were pressing against Him.
He said, “Take now
your son, your only son, whom you love, Isaac, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I will tell you.”
2 Samuel 14:7
the whole family has risen against your maidservant, and they say, ‘Hand over the one who struck his brother, that we may put him to death for the life of his brother whom he killed, and destroy the heir also.’ Thus they will extinguish my coal which is left, so as to leave my husband neither name nor remnant on the face of the earth.”

So Peter arose and went with them. When he arrived, they brought him into the
upper room; and all the widows stood beside him, weeping and showing all the tunics and garments that Dorcas used to make while she was with them.
1 Timothy 5:4
but if any widow has children or grandchildren,
they must first learn to practice piety in regard to their own family and to make some return to their parents; for this is acceptable in the sight of God.
Pure and undefiled religion
in the sight of our God and Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself unstained by the world.
