Jesus Is Buried

⁴² The evening had already fallen, when, as it was the Preparation Day--the day before the Sabbath-- ⁴³ Joseph from Ramah, a Councillor of good position, who was himself living in expectation of the Kingdom of God, came and ventured to go in to see Pilate, and to ask for the body of Jesus. ⁴⁴ But Pilate was surprised to hear that he had already died. So he sent for the Officer, and asked if he were already dead;
