Now when Jesus heard that
John had been taken into custody, He withdrew into Galilee;
Herod had John arrested, he bound him and put him in prison because of Herodias, the wife of his brother Philip.
For Herod himself had sent and had John arrested and bound in prison on account of
Herodias, the wife of his brother Philip, because he had married her.
Herod the tetrarch was reprimanded by him because of Herodias, his brother’s wife, and because of all the wicked things which Herod had done,
The disciples of John reported to him about all these things.
John had not yet been thrown into prison.
Then the disciples of John *came to Him, asking, “Why do we and
the Pharisees fast, but Your disciples do not fast?”
Therefore there arose a discussion on the part of John’s disciples with a Jew about
the Lord knew that the Pharisees had heard that Jesus was making and baptizing more disciples than John
It happened that while
Apollos was at Corinth, Paul passed through the upper country and came to Ephesus, and found some disciples.
