Thematic Bible

In the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar, when Pontius Pilate was governor of Judea, and Herod was tetrarch of Galilee, and his brother Philip was tetrarch of Iturea and of the region of Trachonitis, and Lysanias was tetrarch of Abilene,

But Herod the tetrarch having been reproved by him on account of Herodias, the wife of his brother Philip, and for all the wicked deeds which Herod did,

Now there were certain prophets and teachers in the church that was at Antioch; Barnabas, and Simeon, who is called Niger, and Lucius of Gyrene, and Manaen, who was brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.

And Herod the tetrarch heard of all things that were done by him; and he was perplexed, because it was said by some, that John had risen from the dead;

At that time Herod the tetrarch heard of the fame of Jesus;

For Herod had laid hold of John, and bound him, and put him in prison on account of Herodias, the wife of his brother Philip.

And Herod the king heard of him, for his name had be come known; and he said: John the Immerser has risen from the dead, and for this reason, the powers of the spiritual world are active within him.

And he charged them, saying: Take heed, and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, and of the leaven of Herod.

On the same day, certain Pharisees came and said to him: Depart, and get away from this place; for Herod intends to kill you.

And when he learned that he belonged to the dominion of Herod, he sent him to Herod, who was at that time in Jerusalem.

But Herod and his guards treated him with contempt; and having mocked him, and put on him a gaudy robe, he sent him back to Pilate.
