Verse Concepts I will punish her also for the days of Baal, wherein she censed him, decking him with her earrings and chains: when she followed her lovers, and forgat me, sayeth the LORD.

Verse Concepts Israel was a fertile vine that yielded fruit. As his fruit multiplied, he multiplied altars to Baal. As his land prospered, they adorned the fertility pillars.
But the more I summoned them, the farther they departed from me. They sacrificed to the Baal idols and burned incense to images.
My people are obsessed with turning away from me; they call to Baal, but he will never exalt them!

And it came to pass, when the judge was dead, that they returned, and corrupted themselves more than their fathers, in following other gods to serve them, and to bow down unto them; they ceased not from their own doings, nor from their stubborn way. Therefore the LORD left those nations, without driving them out hastily; neither delivered he them into the hand of Joshua.
