And the demons besought him, saying: If thou cast us out, permit us to go away into the herd of swine. And he said to them: Go. And when they had come out, they went away into the herd of swine. And behold, the whole herd of swine rushed down a steep place into the sea, and perished in the waters. And those who fed them fled, and went into the city, and told every thing, and what had happened to those who had been possessed with the demons. And, behold, all the city came out to meet Jesus. And when they saw him, they besought him to depart out of their borders.

And those who fed them fled, and told it in the city, and in the country. And they came out to see what had been done; and they came to Jesus and saw the demoniac, who had had the legion, sitting, and clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid. And those who had seen it told them how it had happened to the demoniac, and also concerning the swine. And they began to beseech him to depart from their borders. And when he had entered the ship, he that had been possessed with the demons besought him that he might be with him. And he did not permit him, but said to him: Go home to your relatives, and make known to them what things the Lord has done for you, and that he has had compassion on you.
