About this time, John the Baptist appeared, preaching in the Judean wilderness,


Large crowds from Galilee, the Decapolis, Jerusalem, Judea, and from across the Jordan followed him.

One day, as Jesus was teaching, some Pharisees and teachers of the Law happened to be sitting nearby. The people had come from every village in Galilee and Judea and from Jerusalem. The power of the Lord was present to heal them.

When this man heard that Jesus had come from Judea to Galilee, he went to him and asked him repeatedly to come down and heal his son, because he was about to die.

Now this was the second sign that Jesus did after coming from Judea to Galilee.


When Jesus had finished saying these things, he left Galilee and went to the territory of Judea on the other side of the Jordan.

But they kept insisting, "He is stirring up the people with what he teaches all over Judea, from where he started in Galilee to this place."

Then Jesus left that place and went into the territory of Judea on the other side of the Jordan. Crowds gathered around him as usual, and he began to teach them again as was his custom.


About this time, John the Baptist appeared, preaching in the Judean wilderness,

John went throughout the entire Jordan region, proclaiming a baptism about repentance for the forgiveness of sins,


toward Beth-hoglah, and continuing on the north of Beth-arabah. The border ascended up to the boundary marker set up by Reuben's son Bohan.

During the reign of King Herod of Judea, there was a priest named Zechariah, who belonged to the priestly order of Abijah. His wife was a descendant of Aaron, and her name was Elizabeth.
