And the people who were with him, when he called Lazarus out of the tomb, and raised him from the dead, bare witness. For this cause also the multitude went to meet him, because they heard, he had done this miracle.

Thus he spake, and after that he saith to them, Our friend Lazarus sleepeth; but I go to awake him. Then the disciples said, Lord, if he sleep, he will recover. Jesus spake of his death, but they thought he had spoken of the natural rest in sleep. Then said Jesus to them plainly, Lazarus is dead. And I am glad for your sake I was not there, that ye may believe:
