The rest of the Levites, the clan of Merari, received from the territory of Zebulun four cities: Jokneam, Kartah, Dimnah, and Nahalal, with pasturelands.


The sons of Zebulun were Sered, Elon, and Jahleel.

The families descended from Zebulun were the family of Sered, the family of Elon, and the family of Jahleel. These were the families of Zebulun. The total number of men was sixty thousand five hundred.


In the days of Pekah king of Israel Tiglathpileser king of Assyria captured Ijon and Abelbethmaacah and Janoah and Kedesh and Hazor and Gilead and Galilee and all the land of Naphtali. He took the people captive to Assyria.

There will be no more gloom for those who were suffering. In the past he humiliated the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali. But in the future he will honor Galilee of the Nations, by the way of the sea, along the Jordan.


They were in the same order each time they moved. Those under the banner of the division led by the tribe of Judah started out first, company by company, with Nahshon son of Amminadab in command.

Eliab son of Helon was in command of the tribe of Zebulun.

All these men came in battle array to Hebron with the single purpose of making David the king of Israel. In fact, all Israel agreed that David should be their king. They feasted and drank with David for three days. Their relatives had made preparations for their arrival. People from as far away as Issachar, Zebulun, and Naphtali brought food on donkeys, camels, mules, and oxen. Vast supplies of flour, fig cakes, raisins, wine; olive oil, cattle, and sheep were brought to the celebration. There was great joy throughout the land of Israel


Nevertheless some men of Asher, Manasseh and Zebulun humbled themselves and came to Jerusalem.

Many people from Ephraim, Manasseh, Issachar, and Zebulun had not made themselves clean. So they ate the Passover, but not in the way the written instructions said they should. Hezekiah prayed for them: May Jehovah forgive everyone


Rejoice Zebulun in your going out. And rejoice Issachar in your tents. They will call peoples to the mountain. There they will offer righteous sacrifices. They will draw out the abundance of the seas and the hidden treasures of the sand.


Neither did Zebulun drive out the inhabitants of Kitron, nor the inhabitants of Nahalol; but the Canaanites dwelt among them, and became forced laborers.
