but the wisdom that is from above, is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be entreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without judging, and without simulation.

Though I spake with the tongues of men and angels, and yet had no love, I were even as sounding brass: or as a tinkling cymbal.

But the fruit of the spirit is: love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faithfulness, meekness, temperance.

but harborous, one that loveth goodness, sober minded, righteous, holy, temperate,

Above all things, show thyself an example of good works with uncorrupt doctrine, with honesty,

How long will ye give wrong judgment, and accept the persons of the ungodly? Selah.

A false balance is an abomination to the LORD; but a true weight pleaseth him.

A steadfast woman is a crown unto her husband; but she that behaveth herself dishonestly is a corruption in his bones.

Whoso leadeth a godly and an innocent life; happy shall his children be whom he leaveth behind him.

We have sent with him that brother whose laud is in the gospel throughout all the congregations:

That the elder men be sober, honest, discreet, sound in the faith, in love and in patience.

Pray for us. We have confidence because we have a good conscience in all things, and desire to live honestly.

And forasmuch as ye have purified your souls through the spirit, in obeying the truth for to love brotherly without feigning, see that ye love one another with a pure heart, fervently:

But above all things, have fervent love among you. For love covereth the multitude of sins.

A true measure and a true balance are the LORD's; he maketh all weights.

Whoso findeth a honest faithful woman, she is much more worth than pearls.

Many daughters there be that gather riches together, but thou goest above them all.

Give her of the fruit of her hands, and let her own works praise her in the gates.

For Herod feared John, knowing that he was a just man, and a holy, and gave him reverence; And when he heard him he did many things, and heard him gladly.

And behold, there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon. And the same man was just and feared God, and longed for the consolation of Israel, and the holy ghost was in him.

and he said unto them, "Ye are they, which justify yourselves before men: but God knoweth your hearts. For that which is highly esteemed among men is abominable in the sight of God.

And behold, there was a man named Joseph, a councilor: and was a good man and a just;

He that speaketh of himself, seeketh his own praise. But he that seeketh his praise that sent him, the same is true, and no unrighteousness is in him.

And one Ananias, a perfect man, and as pertaining to the law having good report of all the Jews which there dwelt,

But he is a Jew which is hid within, and the circumcision of the heart is the true circumcision, which is in the spirit, and not in the letter: whose praise is not of men but of God.

For rulers are not to be feared for good works but for evil. Wilt thou be without fear of the power? Do well then: and so shalt thou be praised of the same.

Let us walk honestly as it were in the daylight: not in eating and drinking: neither in chambering and wantonness: neither in strife and envying:

Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, which will lighten things that are hid in darkness: and open the counsels of the hearts. And then shall every man have praise of God.

and therefore make provision for honest things, not in the sight of God only, but also in the sight of men.

I desire before God that ye do none evil, not that we should seem commendable: but that ye should do that which is honest, and let us be counted as lewd persons.

Wherefore, put away lying, and speak every man truth unto his neighbor, forasmuch as we are members one of another.

Stand, therefore, and your loins gird about with verity, having on the breastplate of righteousness,

Walk wisely to them that are without, and redeem the time.

for kings, and for all that are in authority that we may live a quiet and a peaceable life, in all godliness and honesty.

and one that ruleth his own house honestly, having children under obedience, with all honesty.

He must also be well reported of among them which are without forth, lest he fall into rebuke, and into the snare of the evil speaker.

Even so must their wives be honest, not evil speakers: but sober, and faithful in all things.

the elder women as mothers, the younger as sisters, with all pureness.

and well reported of in good works: if she have nourished children, if she have been liberal to strangers, if she have washed the saints' feet, if she have ministered unto them which were in adversity, if she were continually given unto all manner good works.

which gave himself for us, to redeem us from all unrighteousness, and to purge us a peculiar people unto himself, fervently given unto good works.

And let ours also learn to excel in good works as far forth as need requireth, that they be not unfruitful.

Pure devotion, and undefiled before God the father, is this: To visit the friendless, and widows in their adversity, and to keep himself unspotted of the world.

and see that ye have honest conversation among the gentiles, that they which backbite you as evil doers, may see your good works and praise God in the day of visitation.

This is the second epistle that I now write unto you, my dearly beloved, wherewith I stir up and warn your pure minds,

And every man that hath this hope in him, purgeth himself, even as he is pure.

My little children, let us not love in word, nor with the tongue: but with the deed, and of a truth:
