Proverbs 8

¹ Shall not wisdom call, and understanding give her voice?

¹ Doth not wisdom cry? and understanding put forth her voice?

¹ Does not ^(A)wisdom call,And understanding ^(a)lift up her voice?

¹ Doesn’t Wisdom^(A) call out?Doesn’t Understanding make her voice heard?

¹ Isn't wisdom calling out; isn't understanding raising her voice?

³ At the hand of the gates, at the mouth of the city from the coming in of the doors she will cry:

³ She crieth at the gates, at the entry of the city, at the coming in at the doors.

³ Beside the ^(C)gates, at the opening to the city,At the entrance of the doors, she cries out:

³ Beside the gates^(B) at the entry to^(a) the city,at the main entrance, she cries out:

³ Beside the gates, at the city entrance at the entrance to the portals she cries aloud:

⁵ Understand craftiness, ye simple: and ye foolish, understand the heart

⁵ O ye simple, understand wisdom: and, ye fools, be ye of an understanding heart.

⁵ “O ^(b)(D)naive ones, understand prudence;And, O ^(E)fools, understand ^(c)wisdom.

⁵ Learn to be shrewd, you who are inexperienced;develop common sense, you who are foolish.

⁵ Understand prudence, you naive people; and gain an understanding heart, you foolish ones.

⁷ For my palate shall meditate the truth, and evil is the abomination of my lips.

⁷ For my mouth shall speak truth; and wickedness is an abomination to my lips.

⁷ “For my ^(H)mouth will utter truth;And wickedness is an abomination to my lips.

⁷ For my mouth tells the truth,^(C)and wickedness is detestable to my lips.

⁷ For my mouth speaks the truth wickedness is detestable to me.

⁹ All of them straight to him understanding, and right to those finding knowledge.

⁹ They are all plain to him that understandeth, and right to them that find knowledge.

⁹ “They are all ^(J)straightforward to him who understands,And right to those who ^(K)find knowledge.

⁹ All of them are clear to the perceptive,^(E)and right to those who discover knowledge.

⁹ Everything I say is sensible to someone who understands, and correct to those who have acquired knowledge.

¹¹ For wisdom is good above pearls, and all delights shall not be made equal with her.

¹¹ For wisdom is better than rubies; and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it.

¹¹ “For wisdom is ^(M)better than ^(d)jewels;And ^(N)all desirable things cannot compare with her.

¹¹ For wisdom is better than jewels,^(G)and nothing desirable can compare with it.^(H)

¹¹ because wisdom is better than precious gems and nothing you desire can compare to it."

¹³ The fear of Jehovah hates evil: pride and haughtiness, and the evil way, and the mouth of perverseness I hated.

¹³ The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.

¹³ “The ^(Q)fear of the Lord is to hate evil;^(R)Pride and arrogance and ^(S)the evil wayAnd the ^(T)perverted mouth, I hate.

¹³ To fear the Lord is to hate evil.^(J)I hate arrogant pride, evil conduct,and perverse speech.

¹³ The fear of the LORD is to hate evil. Pride, arrogance, an evil lifestyle, and perverted speech I despise.

¹⁵ By me kings shall reign, and princes shall decree justice.

¹⁵ By me kings reign, and princes decree justice.

¹⁵ “By me ^(X)kings reign,And rulers decree justice.

¹⁵ It is by me that kings reign^(L)and rulers enact just law;

¹⁵ Kings reign by me, and rulers dispense justice through me.

¹⁷ I loved those loving me: and they seeking me shall find me.

¹⁷ I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me.

¹⁷ “I ^(Y)love those who love me;And ^(Z)those who diligently seek me will find me.

¹⁷ I love those who love me,^(M)and those who search for me find me.^(N)

¹⁷ I love those who love me, and those who seek me will find me.

¹⁹ My fruit is good above gold, and above pure gold; and my gain above tried silver.

¹⁹ My fruit is better than gold, yea, than fine gold; and my revenue than choice silver.

¹⁹ “My fruit is ^(AC)better than gold, even pure gold,And my yield better than ^(AD)choicest silver.

¹⁹ My fruit is better than solid gold,and my harvest than pure silver.^(Q)

¹⁹ My fruit is better than gold, better than even refined gold, and my benefit surpasses the purest silver.

²¹ To cause those loving me to inherit existence: and I will fill their treasures.

²¹ That I may cause those that love me to inherit substance; and I will fill their treasures.

²¹ To endow those who love me with wealth,That I may ^(AE)fill their treasuries.

²¹ giving wealth as an inheritance to those who love me,and filling their treasuries.

²¹ I bequeath wealth to those who love me, and I will fill their treasuries."

²³ From forever I was knit together, from the beginning, from the first of the earth.

²³ I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, or ever the earth was.

²³ “From everlasting I was ^(f)(AG)established,From the beginning, ^(AH)from the earliest times of the earth.

²³ I was formed before ancient times,from the beginning, before the earth began.^(S)

²³ From eternity I was appointed, from the beginning, from before there was land.

²⁵ Before the mountains were settled; before the hills I had a beginning:

²⁵ Before the mountains were settled, before the hills was I brought forth:

²⁵ “^(AJ)Before the mountains were settled,Before the hills I was ^(h)brought forth;

²⁵ I was deliveredbefore the mountains and hills were established,^(U)

²⁵ Before the mountains were shaped, before there were hills, I was bringing them to birth.

²⁷ In his preparing the heavens I was there: in his inscribing a circle upon the face of the deep:

²⁷ When he prepared the heavens, I was there: when he set a compass upon the face of the depth:

²⁷ “When He ^(AK)established the heavens, I was there,When ^(AL)He inscribed a circle on the face of the deep,

²⁷ I was there when He established the heavens,^(V)when He laid out the horizon on the surface of the ocean,^(W)

²⁷ when he crafted the heavens, I was there when he marked out a circle on the face of the deep,

²⁹ In his setting his law to the sea, and the waters shall not pass by his mouth; in his making firm the foundations of the earth:

²⁹ When he gave to the sea his decree, that the waters should not pass his commandment: when he appointed the foundations of the earth:

²⁹ When ^(AM)He set for the sea its boundarySo that the water would not transgress His ^(k)command,When He marked out ^(AN)the foundations of the earth;

²⁹ when He set a limit for the seaso that the waters would not violate His command,^(X)when He laid out the foundations of the earth.^(Y)

²⁹ when he set a boundary for the sea so the waters would not exceed his limits, when he marked out the foundations of the earth.

³¹ Smiling in the habitable globe of his earth; and my delight with the sons of man.

³¹ Rejoicing in the habitable part of his earth; and my delights were with the sons of men.

^{31 (m)}Rejoicing in the world, His earth,And having ^(AP)my delight in the sons of men.

³¹ I was rejoicing in His inhabited world,^(AA)delighting in the human race.^(AB)

³¹ rejoicing in his inhabitable world and taking delight in mankind."

³³ Hear ye instructions, and be wise, and ye shall not reject it

³³ Hear instruction, and be wise, and refuse it not.

³³ “^(AS)Heed instruction and be wise,And do not neglect it.

³³ Listen to instruction and be wise;^(AD)don’t ignore it.

³⁵ For he finding me, the finding of life, and he shall bnng forth acceptance from Jehovah.

³⁵ For whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain favour of the LORD.

³⁵ “For ^(AU)he who finds me finds lifeAnd ^(AV)obtains favor from the Lord.

³⁵ For the one who finds me finds life^(AF)and obtains favor from the Lord,^(AG)

³⁵ because those who find me find life and gain favor from the LORD.
