Thanksgiving And A Cry For Help

1 When I was waiting quietly for the Lord, his heart was turned to me, and he gave ear to my cry.

1 {To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David.} I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.

2 He took me up out of a deep waste place, out of the soft and sticky earth; he put my feet on a rock, and made my steps certain.

2 He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.

2 He brought me up out of the (C)pit of destruction, out of the (b)miry clay,And (D)He set my feet upon a rock (E)making my footsteps firm.

2 He plucked me out of a pit of confusion, even out of the quicksand; he placed my feet on a rock and established my steps.

3 And he put a new song in my mouth, even praise to our God; numbers have seen it with fear, and put their faith in the Lord.

3 And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD.

3 He put a (F)new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God;Many will (G)see and fearAnd will trust in the Lord.

4 Blessed is that man that maketh the LORD his trust, and respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.

4 How (H)blessed is the man who has made the Lord his trust,And (I)has not (c)turned to the proud, nor to those who (J)lapse into falsehood.

5 O Lord my God, great are the wonders which you have done in your thought for us; it is not possible to put them out in order before you; when I would give an account of them, their number is greater than I may say.

5 Many, O LORD my God, are thy wonderful works which thou hast done, and thy thoughts which are to us-ward: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered.

5 Many, O Lord my God, are (K)the wonders which You have done,And Your (L)thoughts toward us;There is none to compare with You.If I would declare and speak of them,They (M)would be too numerous to count.

5 Lord my God, You have done many things—Your wonderful works and Your plans for us;none can compare with You.If I were to report and speak of them, they are more than can be told.(G)

5 LORD, my God, You have done great things: marvelous works and your thoughts toward us. There is no one who compares to you! I will try to recite your actions, even though there are too many to number.

6 You had no desire for offerings of beasts or fruits of the earth; ears you made for me: for burned offerings and sin offerings you made no request.

6 Sacrifice and offering thou didst not desire; mine ears hast thou opened: burnt offering and sin offering hast thou not required.

10 Your righteousness has not been folded away in my heart; I have made clear your true word and your salvation; I have not kept secret your mercy or your faith from the great meeting.

10 I have not hid thy righteousness within my heart; I have declared thy faithfulness and thy salvation: I have not concealed thy lovingkindness and thy truth from the great congregation.

11 LORD, do not withhold your mercy from me, for your gracious love and truthfulness will keep me safe continuously.

12 For unnumbered evils are round about me; my sins have overtaken me, so that I am bent down with their weight; they are more than the hairs of my head, my strength is gone because of them.

12 For innumerable evils have compassed me about: mine iniquities have taken hold upon me, so that I am not able to look up; they are more than the hairs of mine head: therefore my heart faileth me.

12 For evils beyond number have (W)surrounded me;My (X)iniquities have overtaken me, so that I am not able to see; They are (Y)more numerous than the hairs of my head,And my (Z)heart has (h)failed me.

12 For troubles without number have surrounded me;my sins have overtaken me; I am unable to see. They are more than the hairs of my head, and my courage leaves me.(O)

12 Innumerable evils have surrounded me; my iniquities have overtaken me so that I cannot see. They are more in number than the hair on my head, and my courage has forsaken me.

13 Be pleased, O Lord, to take me out of danger; O Lord, come quickly and give me help.

13 Be pleased, O LORD, to deliver me: O LORD, make haste to help me.

13 (AA)Be pleased, O Lord, to deliver me;Make (AB)haste, O Lord, to help me.

13 Lord, be pleased to deliver me;hurry to help me, Lord.(P)

13 Be pleased, LORD, to deliver me; LORD, hurry up and help me!

14 Let those who go after my soul for its destruction have shame and trouble together; let them be turned back and made foolish who take pleasure in my trouble.

14 Let them be ashamed and confounded together that seek after my soul to destroy it; let them be driven backward and put to shame that wish me evil.

14 Let those be (AC)ashamed and humiliated togetherWho (AD)seek my (i)life to destroy it;Let those be turned back and dishonoredWho delight (j)in my hurt.

14 Let those who seek to take my lifebe disgraced and confounded.Let those who wish me harmbe driven back and humiliated.(Q)

14 May those who seek to destroy my life be ashamed and confounded; let them be driven backwards and humiliated, particularly those who wish me evil.

15 Let those who say to me, Aha, aha! be surprised because of their shame.

15 Let them be desolate for a reward of their shame that say unto me, Aha, aha.

15 Let those (AE)be (k)appalled because of their shameWho (AF)say to me, “Aha, aha!”

15 Let those who say to me, “Aha, aha!”be horrified because of their shame.(R)

15 Let shame be the reward for those who say to me, "Aha! Aha!"

16 Let all those who are looking for you be glad and have joy in you; let the lovers of your salvation ever say, May the Lord be great.

16 Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee: let such as love thy salvation say continually, The LORD be magnified.

16 (AG)Let all who seek You rejoice and be glad in You;Let those who love Your salvation (AH)say continually,“The Lord be magnified!”

16 Let all who seek you shout for joy and be glad in you. May those who love your deliverance say, "The LORD be magnified!" continuously.

17 Though I am poor and in need, the Lord has me in mind; you are my help and my saviour; let there be no waiting, O my God.

17 But I am poor and needy; yet the Lord thinketh upon me: thou art my help and my deliverer; make no tarrying, O my God.

17 Since (AI)I am afflicted and needy,(l)(AJ)Let the Lord be mindful of me.You are my help and my deliverer;Do not delay, O my God.

17 I am afflicted and needy;the Lord thinks of me.You are my helper and my deliverer;my God, do not delay.(T)
