God Our Refuge

1 ([Sons of Korah]) God is our refuge and strength, a ready help in times of trouble.

1 God is our refuge and strength, a great help in times of distress.

2 Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change and though the mountains slip into the heart of the sea.

2 Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;

2 Therefore we will (D)not fear, though (E)the earth should changeAnd though (F)the mountains slip into the heart of the (d)sea;

2 Therefore we will not be afraid,though the earth tremblesand the mountains toppleinto the depths of the seas,(C)

2 Therefore we will not be frightened when the earth roars, when the mountains shake in the depths of the seas,

3 Though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains quake at its arrogance.

3 Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah.

5 God is at the center of her and she will not be moved. God will help her when morning appears.

5 God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early.

5 Since God is in her midst, she will not be shaken. God will help her at the break of dawn.

6 The nations made uproar and the kingdoms tumbled. He raised his voice and the earth dissolved.

6 The heathen raged, the kingdoms were moved: he uttered his voice, the earth melted.

6 Nations rage, kingdoms topple;the earth melts when He lifts His voice.(G)

7 Jehovah of Hosts is with us. The God of Jacob is our stronghold.

7 The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.

8 Come and behold the works of Jehovah. He has brought destruction in the earth.

8 Come, behold the works of the LORD, what desolations he hath made in the earth.

8 Come, see the works of the Lord,who brings devastation on the earth.(I)

8 Come, observe the mighty works of the LORD, who causes desolation in the earth.

9 He makes wars to cease to the end of the earth! He breaks the bow and cuts the spear in two. He burns the chariots (instruments of destruction) with fire.

9 He maketh wars to cease unto the end of the earth; he breaketh the bow, and cutteth the spear in sunder; he burneth the chariot in the fire.

9 He (T)makes wars to cease to the end of the earth;He (U)breaks the bow and cuts the spear in two;He (V)burns the chariots with fire.

9 He makes wars cease throughout the earth.He shatters bows and cuts spears to pieces;He burns up the chariots.(b)(J)

9 He causes wars to cease all over the earth, he causes the bow to break, the spear to snap, the chariots to ignite and burn.

10 Cease your endeavors and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations! I will be glorified in the earth!

10 Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.

10 (j)Cease striving and (W)know that I am God;I will be (X)exalted among the (k)nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”

10 “Stop your fighting—and know that I am God,exalted among the nations, exalted on the earth.”(K)

10 Be in awe and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations. I will be exalted throughout the earth.

11 Jehovah of Hosts is with us! The God of Jacob is our stronghold.
