Praise For God's Protection

1 For the music director; according to the al-tashcheth style; a prayer of David, written when he fled from Saul into the cave. Have mercy on me, O God! Have mercy on me! For in you I have taken shelter. In the shadow of your wings I take shelter until trouble passes.

1 For the choir director; set to (a)Al-tashheth. A (b)Mikhtam of David, (c)when he fled from Saul in the cave.Be gracious to me, O God, be gracious to me,For my soul (A)takes refuge in You;And in the (B)shadow of Your wings I will take refugeUntil destruction (C)passes by.

1 {To the chief Musician, Altaschith, Michtam of David, when he fled from Saul in the cave.} Be merciful unto me, O God, be merciful unto me: for my soul trusteth in thee: yea, in the shadow of thy wings will I make my refuge, until these calamities be overpast.

1 Have mercy on me, God, have mercy, for in you I have placed my trust. Even in the shadow of your wings will I find my refuge until this calamity passes.

2 I cry out for help to the sovereign God, to the God who vindicates me.

2 I will cry to God Most High,To God who (D)accomplishes all things for me.

2 I will cry unto God most high; unto God that performeth all things for me.

2 I call to God Most High,to God who fulfills His purpose for me.(b)(C)

2 I call upon the God Most High; to the God who completes what he began in me.

3 May he send help from heaven and deliver me from my enemies who hurl insults! (Selah) May God send his loyal love and faithfulness!

3 He will (E)send from heaven and save me;He reproaches him who (d)(F)tramples upon me. (e)Selah.God will send forth His (G)lovingkindness and His (f)truth.

3 He shall send from heaven, and save me from the reproach of him that would swallow me up. Selah. God shall send forth his mercy and his truth.

3 He will send help from heaven to deliver me from those who harass and despise me. Interlude God will send his gracious love and truth.

4 I am surrounded by lions; I lie down among those who want to devour me; men whose teeth are spears and arrows, whose tongues are a sharp sword.

4 My soul is among (H)lions;I must lie among those who breathe forth fire,Even the sons of men, whose (I)teeth are spears and arrowsAnd their (J)tongue a sharp sword.

4 My soul is among lions: and I lie even among them that are set on fire, even the sons of men, whose teeth are spears and arrows, and their tongue a sharp sword.

4 I am surrounded by lions;I lie down with those who devour men.Their teeth are spears and arrows;their tongues are sharp swords.(F)

4 I am surrounded by lions. I lie down with those who burn with fire that is, with people whose teeth are like spears and arrows whose tongues are like sharp swords.

5 Rise up above the sky, O God! May your splendor cover the whole earth!

5 (K)Be exalted above the heavens, O God;Let Your glory be above all the earth.

5 Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens; let thy glory be above all the earth.

5 God, be exalted above the heavens;let Your glory be over the whole earth.(G)

5 Be exalted above the heavens, God! May your glory cover the earth!

6 They have prepared a net to trap me; I am discouraged. They have dug a pit for me. They will fall into it! (Selah)

10 For your loyal love extends beyond the sky, and your faithfulness reaches the clouds.

10 For Your faithful love is as high as the heavens;Your faithfulness reaches the clouds.(L)

10 For your gracious love is great, extending even to the heavens, and your truth even to the skies.

11 Rise up above the sky, O God! May your splendor cover the whole earth!
