A Prayer For Retribution Against Oppressors

11 O LORD, God of vengeance, God of vengeance, shine forth!

11 O LORD God, to whom vengeance belongeth; O God, to whom vengeance belongeth, shew thyself.

11 Lord, God of vengeance- God of vengeance, appear.

11 God of vengeance, LORD God of vengeance, display your splendor!

11 O Lord God, You to Whom vengeance belongs, O God, You to Whom vengeance belongs, shine forth!

22 Rise up, O Judge of the earth, Render recompense to the proud.

22 Lift up thyself, thou judge of the earth: render a reward to the proud.

22 Rise up, Judge of the earth; repay the proud what they deserve.

22 Stand up, judge of the earth, and repay the proud.

22 Rise up, O Judge of the earth; render to the proud a fit compensation!

33 How long shall the wicked, O LORD, How long shall the wicked exult?

33 LORD, how long shall the wicked, how long shall the wicked triumph?

33 Lord, how long will the wicked- how long will the wicked gloat?

33 How long will the wicked, LORD, how long will the wicked continue to triumph?

33 Lord, how long shall the wicked, how long shall the wicked triumph and exult?

44 They pour forth words, they speak arrogantly; All who do wickedness vaunt themselves.

44 How long shall they utter and speak hard things? and all the workers of iniquity boast themselves?

44 They pour out arrogant words; all the evildoers boast.

44 When they speak, they spew arrogance. Everyone who practices iniquity brags about it.

44 They pour out arrogant words, speaking hard things; all the evildoers boast loftily.

55 They crush Your people, O LORD, And afflict Your heritage.

55 They break in pieces thy people, O LORD, and afflict thine heritage.

55 Lord, they crush Your people; they afflict Your heritage.

55 LORD, they have crushed your people, afflicting your heritage.

55 They crush Your people, O Lord, and afflict Your heritage.

66 They slay the widow and the stranger And murder the orphans.

66 They slay the widow and the stranger, and murder the fatherless.

66 They kill the widow and the foreigner and murder the fatherless.

66 The wicked kill widows and foreigners; they murder orphans.

66 They slay the widow and the transient stranger and murder the unprotected orphan.

77 They have said, "The LORD does not see, Nor does the God of Jacob pay heed."

77 Yet they say, The LORD shall not see, neither shall the God of Jacob regard it.

77 They say, "The Lord doesn't see it. The God of Jacob doesn't pay attention."

77 They say, "The LORD cannot see, and the God of Jacob will not notice."

77 Yet they say, The Lord does not see, neither does the God of Jacob notice it.

88 Pay heed, you senseless among the people; And when will you understand, stupid ones?

88 Understand, ye brutish among the people: and ye fools, when will ye be wise?

88 Pay attention, you stupid people! Fools, when will you be wise?

88 Pay attention, you dull ones among the crowds! You fools! Will you ever become wise?

88 Consider and understand, you stupid ones among the people! And you [self-confident] fools, when will you become wise?

99 He who planted the ear, does He not hear? He who formed the eye, does He not see?

99 He that planted the ear, shall he not hear? he that formed the eye, shall he not see?

99 Can the One who shaped the ear not hear, the One who formed the eye not see?

99 The one who formed the ear can hear, can he not? The one who made the eyes can see, can he not?

99 He Who planted the ear, shall He not hear? He Who formed the eye, shall He not see?

1010 He who chastens the nations, will He not rebuke, Even He who teaches man knowledge?

1010 He that chastiseth the heathen, shall not he correct? he that teacheth man knowledge, shall not he know?

1010 The One who instructs nations, the One who teaches man knowledge- does He not discipline?

1010 The one who disciplines nations can rebuke them, can he not? The one who teaches mankind can discern, can he not?

1010 He Who disciplines and instructs the nations, shall He not punish, He Who teaches man knowledge?

1111 The LORD knows the thoughts of man, That they are a mere breath.

1111 The LORD knoweth the thoughts of man, that they are vanity.

1111 The Lord knows man's thoughts; they are meaningless.

1111 The LORD knows the thoughts of human beings that they are futile.

1111 The Lord knows the thoughts of man, that they are vain (empty and futile -- "only a breath).

1212 Blessed is the man whom You chasten, O LORD, And whom You teach out of Your law;

1212 Blessed is the man whom thou chastenest, O LORD, and teachest him out of thy law;

1212 Lord, happy is the man You discipline and teach from Your law

1212 How blessed is the man whom you instruct, LORD, whom you teach from your Law,

1212 Blessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) is the man whom You discipline and instruct, O Lord, and teach out of Your law,

1313 That You may grant him relief from the days of adversity, Until a pit is dug for the wicked.

1313 That thou mayest give him rest from the days of adversity, until the pit be digged for the wicked.

1313 to give him relief from troubled times until a pit is dug for the wicked.

1313 keeping him calm when times are troubled until a pit has been dug for the wicked.

1313 That You may give him power to keep himself calm in the days of adversity, until the [inevitable] pit of corruption is dug for the wicked.

1414 For the LORD will not abandon His people, Nor will He forsake His inheritance.

1414 For the LORD will not cast off his people, neither will he forsake his inheritance.

1414 The Lord will not forsake His people or abandon His heritage,

1414 For the LORD will not forsake his people; he will not abandon his heritage.

1414 For the Lord will not cast off nor spurn His people, neither will He abandon His heritage.

1515 For judgment will again be righteous, And all the upright in heart will follow it.

1515 But judgment shall return unto righteousness: and all the upright in heart shall follow it.

1515 for justice will again be righteous, and all the upright in heart will follow it.

1515 Righteousness will be restored with justice, and all the pure of heart will follow it.

1515 For justice will return to the [uncompromisingly] righteous, and all the upright in heart will follow it.

1616 Who will stand up for me against evildoers? Who will take his stand for me against those who do wickedness?

1616 Who will rise up for me against the evildoers? or who will stand up for me against the workers of iniquity?

1616 Who stands up for me against the wicked? Who takes a stand for me against evildoers?

1616 Who will rise up for me against the wicked? Who will stand for me against those who practice iniquity?

1616 Who will rise up for me against the evildoers? Who will stand up for me against the workers of iniquity?

1717 If the LORD had not been my help, My soul would soon have dwelt in the abode of silence.

1717 Unless the LORD had been my help, my soul had almost dwelt in silence.

1717 If the Lord had not been my help, I would soon rest in the silence [of death].

1717 If the LORD had not been my helper, I would have quickly become silent.

1717 Unless the Lord had been my help, I would soon have dwelt in [the land where there is] silence.

1818 If I should say, "My foot has slipped," Your lovingkindness, O LORD, will hold me up.

1818 When I said, My foot slippeth; thy mercy, O LORD, held me up.

1818 If I say, "My foot is slipping," Your faithful love will support me, Lord.

1818 When I say that my foot is shaking, your gracious love, LORD, will sustain me.

1818 When I said, My foot is slipping, Your mercy and loving-kindness, O Lord, held me up.

1919 When my anxious thoughts multiply within me, Your consolations delight my soul.

1919 In the multitude of my thoughts within me thy comforts delight my soul.

1919 When I am filled with cares, Your comfort brings me joy.

1919 When my anxious inner thoughts become overwhelming, your comfort encourages me.

1919 In the multitude of my [anxious] thoughts within me, Your comforts cheer and delight my soul!

2020 Can a throne of destruction be allied with You, One which devises mischief by decree?

2020 Shall the throne of iniquity have fellowship with thee, which frameth mischief by a law?

2020 Can a corrupt throne- one that creates trouble by law- become Your ally?

2020 Will destructive national leaders, who plan wicked things through misuse of the Law, be allied with you?

2020 Shall the throne of iniquity have fellowship with You -- "they who frame and hide their unrighteous doings under [the sacred name of] law?

2121 They band themselves together against the life of the righteous And condemn the innocent to death.

2121 They gather themselves together against the soul of the righteous, and condemn the innocent blood.

2121 They band together against the life of the righteous and condemn the innocent to death.

2121 They gather together against the righteous, condemning the innocent to death.

2121 They band themselves together against the life of the [consistently] righteous and condemn the innocent to death.

2222 But the LORD has been my stronghold, And my God the rock of my refuge.

2222 But the LORD is my defence; and my God is the rock of my refuge.

2222 But the Lord is my refuge; my God is the rock of my protection.

2222 But the LORD is my stronghold, and my God, the rock, is my refuge.

2222 But the Lord has become my High Tower and Defense, and my God the Rock of my refuge.

2323 He has brought back their wickedness upon them And will destroy them in their evil; The LORD our God will destroy them.

2323 And he shall bring upon them their own iniquity, and shall cut them off in their own wickedness; yea, the LORD our God shall cut them off.

2323 He will pay them back for their sins and destroy them for their evil. The Lord our God will destroy them.

2323 He will repay them for their sin; he will annihilate them because of their evil. The LORD our God will annihilate them.

2323 And He will turn back upon them their own iniquity and will wipe them out by means of their own wickedness; the Lord our God will wipe them out.
