Accept One Another According To Christ's Example

1 Now we who are strong ought to bear the weaknesses of (A)those without strength and not just please ourselves.

1 We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves.

1 Now we who are strong have an obligation to bear the weaknesses of those without strength,(A) and not to please ourselves.

1 Now we who are strong ought to be patient with the weaknesses of those who are not strong and must stop pleasing ourselves.

1 Now we who are strong [in our convictions and faith] ought to [patiently] put up with the weaknesses of those who are not strong, and not just please ourselves.

2 Each of us is to (B)please his neighbor (a)for his good, to his (C)edification.

2 Let every one of us please his neighbour for his good to edification.

2 Each one of us must please his neighbor for his good, to build him up.(B)

2 Each of us must please our neighbor for the good purpose of building him up.

2 Let each one of us [make it a practice to] please his (a)neighbor for his good, to build him up spiritually.

3 For even (D)Christ did not please Himself; but as it is written, “(E)The reproaches of those who reproached You fell on Me.”

3 For even Christ pleased not himself; but, as it is written, The reproaches of them that reproached thee fell on me.

3 For even the Messiah did not please Himself.(C) On the contrary, as it is written, The insults of those who insult You have fallen on Me.(D)(a)

3 For even the Messiah did not please himself. Instead, as it is written, "The insults of those who insult you have fallen on me."

3 For even Christ did not please Himself; but as it is written [in Scripture], “The reproaches of those who reproached You (the Father) fell on Me (the Son).”(A)

God Gives Us Unity

4 For (F)whatever was written in earlier times was written for our instruction, so that through perseverance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.

4 For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.

4 For whatever was written in the past was written for our instruction,(E) so that we may have hope through endurance and through the encouragement from the Scriptures.

4 For everything that was written long ago was written to instruct us, so that we might have hope through the endurance and encouragement that the Scriptures give us.

4 For whatever was written in earlier times was written for our instruction, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope and overflow with confidence in His promises.

5 Now may the (G)God (b)who gives perseverance and encouragement grant you (H)to be of the same mind with one another according to Christ Jesus,

5 Now the God of patience and consolation grant you to be likeminded one toward another according to Christ Jesus:

5 Now may the God who gives(b) endurance and encouragement(F) allow you to live in harmony with one another,(G) according to the command of Christ Jesus,

5 Now may God, the source of endurance and encouragement, allow you to live in harmony with each other as you follow the Messiah Jesus,

5 Now may the God who gives endurance and who supplies encouragement grant that you be of the same mind with one another according to Christ Jesus,

Jesus And Barabbas

6 so that with one accord you may with one (c)voice glorify (I)the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

6 That ye may with one mind and one mouth glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

6 so that you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ(H) with a united mind and voice.

6 so that with one mind and one voice you might glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus, the Messiah.

6 so that with one accord you may with one voice glorify and praise and honor the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Glorifying God Together

7 Therefore, (J)accept one another, just as Christ also accepted (d)us to the glory of God.

7 Wherefore receive ye one another, as Christ also received us to the glory of God.

7 Therefore accept one another,(I) just as the Messiah also accepted you, to the glory of God.

7 Therefore, accept one another, just as the Messiah accepted you, for the glory of God.

7 Therefore, [continue to] accept and welcome one another, just as Christ has accepted and welcomed us to the glory of [our great] God.

Christ The Hope Of Jews And Gentiles

8 For I say that Christ has become a servant to (K)the circumcision on behalf of the truth of God to confirm (L)the promises given to the fathers,

8 Now I say that Jesus Christ was a minister of the circumcision for the truth of God, to confirm the promises made unto the fathers:

8 For I say that the Messiah became a servant of the circumcised(c) on behalf of God’s truth,(J) to confirm the promises to the fathers,(K)

8 For I tell you that the Messiah became a servant of the circumcised on behalf of God's truth in order to confirm the promises given to our ancestors,

8 For I tell you that Christ has become a servant and a minister to the circumcision (Jews) on behalf of God’s truth, to confirm and verify the promises made to the fathers,

9 and for (M)the Gentiles to (N)glorify God for His mercy; as it is written,(O)Therefore I will (e)give praise to You among the Gentiles,And I will sing to Your name.”

9 And that the Gentiles might glorify God for his mercy; as it is written, For this cause I will confess to thee among the Gentiles, and sing unto thy name.

9 and so that Gentiles(L) may glorify God for His mercy.(M) As it is written:Therefore I will praise You among the Gentiles, and I will sing psalms to Your name.(N)(d)

9 so that the gentiles may glorify God for his mercy. As it is written, "That is why I will praise you among the gentiles; I will sing praises to your name."

9 and for the Gentiles to glorify God for His mercy [to them, since God had no covenant with them]. As it is written and forever remains written,Therefore I praise You among the Gentiles,And sing praises to Your name.”(B)

10 Again he says,(P)Rejoice, O Gentiles, with His people.”

10 And again he saith, Rejoice, ye Gentiles, with his people.

10 Again it says: Rejoice, you Gentiles, with His people!(O)(e)

10 Again he says, "Rejoice, you gentiles, with his people!"

10 Again it says,Rejoice and celebrate, O Gentiles, along with His people.”(C)

11 And again,(Q)Praise the Lord all you Gentiles,And let all the peoples praise Him.”

11 And again, Praise the Lord, all ye Gentiles; and laud him, all ye people.

11 And again:Praise the Lord, all you Gentiles;all the peoples should praise Him!(P)(f)

11 And again, "Praise the Lord, all you gentiles! Let all the nations praise him."

11 And again,Praise the Lord all you Gentiles,And let all the peoples praise Him!”(D)

12 Again Isaiah says,(R)There shall come (S)the root of Jesse,And He who arises to rule over the Gentiles,(T)In Him shall the Gentiles hope.”

12 And again, Esaias saith, There shall be a root of Jesse, and he that shall rise to reign over the Gentiles; in him shall the Gentiles trust.

12 And again, Isaiah says:The root of Jesse(Q) will appear, the One who rises to rule the Gentiles;the Gentiles will hope in Him.(R)(g)

12 And again, Isaiah says, "There will be a Root from Jesse. He will rise up to rule the gentiles, and the gentiles will hope in him."

12 Again Isaiah says,There shall be a root of (b)Jesse,He who arises to rule [as King] over the Gentiles,In Him shall the Gentiles hope.”(E)

13 Now may the God of hope fill you with all (U)joy and peace in believing, so that you will abound in hope (V)by the power of the Holy Spirit.

13 Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.

13 Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you believe in Him(S) so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.(T)

13 Now may God, the source of hope, fill you with all joy and peace as you believe, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

13 May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing [through the experience of your faith] that by the power of the Holy Spirit you will abound in hope and overflow with confidence in His promises.

Paul's Ministry To The Gentiles

14 And concerning you, my brethren, I myself also am convinced that you yourselves are full of (W)goodness, filled with (X)all knowledge and able also to admonish one another.

14 And I myself also am persuaded of you, my brethren, that ye also are full of goodness, filled with all knowledge, able also to admonish one another.

14 My brothers, I myself am convinced about you that you also are full of goodness,(U) filled with all knowledge,(V) and able to instruct one another.

14 I myself am convinced, my brothers, that you yourselves are filled with goodness and full of all the knowledge you need to be able to instruct each other.

14 Personally I am convinced about you, my brothers and sisters, that you yourselves are full of goodness, amply filled with all [spiritual] knowledge, and competent to admonish and counsel and instruct one another.

15 But I have written very boldly to you on some points so as to remind you again, because of (Y)the grace that was given me (f)from God,

15 Nevertheless, brethren, I have written the more boldly unto you in some sort, as putting you in mind, because of the grace that is given to me of God,

15 Nevertheless, I have written to remind you more boldly on some points(h) because of the grace given me by God(W)

15 However, on some points I have written to you rather boldly, both as a reminder to you and because of the grace given me by God

15 Still, on some points I have written to you very boldly and without reservation to remind you [about them] again, because of the grace that was given to me from God,

Jesus Is Mocked

16 to be (Z)a minister of Christ Jesus to the Gentiles, ministering as a priest the (AA)gospel of God, so that my (AB)offering of the Gentiles may become acceptable, sanctified by the Holy Spirit.

16 That I should be the minister of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles, ministering the gospel of God, that the offering up of the Gentiles might be acceptable, being sanctified by the Holy Ghost.

16 to be a minister of Christ Jesus to the Gentiles,(X) serving as a priest of God’s good news.(Y) My purpose is that the offering of the Gentiles may be acceptable,(Z) sanctified by the Holy Spirit.

16 to be a minister of the Messiah Jesus to the gentiles in the priestly service of the gospel of God, so that the offering brought by gentiles may be acceptable, sanctified by the Holy Spirit.

16 to be a minister of Christ Jesus to the Gentiles. I minister as a priest the gospel of God, in order that my offering of the Gentiles may become acceptable [to Him], sanctified [made holy and set apart for His purpose] by the Holy Spirit.

17 Therefore in Christ Jesus I have found (AC)reason for boasting in (AD)things pertaining to God.

17 I have therefore whereof I may glory through Jesus Christ in those things which pertain to God.

17 Therefore I have reason to boast in Christ Jesus(AA) regarding what pertains to God.(AB)

17 Therefore, in the Messiah Jesus I have the right to boast about my work for God.

17 In Christ Jesus, then, I have found [legitimate] reason for boasting in things related [to my service] to God.

18 For I will not presume to speak of anything (g)except what (AE)Christ has accomplished through me, (h)resulting in the obedience of the Gentiles by word and deed,

18 For I will not dare to speak of any of those things which Christ hath not wrought by me, to make the Gentiles obedient, by word and deed,

18 For I would not dare say anything except what Christ has accomplished through me(AC) to make the Gentiles obedient by word and deed,

18 For I am bold enough to tell you only about what the Messiah has accomplished through me in bringing gentiles to obedience. By my words and actions,

18 For I will not [even] presume to speak of anything except what Christ has done through me [as an instrument in His hands], resulting in the obedience of the Gentiles [to the gospel], by word and deed,

19 in the power of (i)(AF)signs and wonders, (AG)in the power of the Spirit; so that (AH)from Jerusalem and round about as (AI)far as Illyricum I have (j)fully preached the gospel of Christ.

19 Through mighty signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God; so that from Jerusalem, and round about unto Illyricum, I have fully preached the gospel of Christ.

19 by the power of miraculous signs and wonders,(AD) and by the power of God’s Spirit. As a result, I have fully proclaimed the good news about the Messiah from Jerusalem(AE) all the way around to Illyricum.(i)(AF)

19 by the power of signs and wonders, and by the power of God's Spirit, I have fully proclaimed the gospel of the Messiah from Jerusalem as far as Illyricum.

19 with the power of signs and wonders, [and all of it] in the power of the Spirit. So [starting] from Jerusalem and as far away as (c)Illyricum, I have fully preached the gospel [faithfully preaching the good news] of Christ [where it had not before been preached].

20 And thus I aspired to (AJ)preach the gospel, not where Christ was already named, (AK)so that I would not build on another man’s foundation;

20 Yea, so have I strived to preach the gospel, not where Christ was named, lest I should build upon another man's foundation:

20 My aim is to evangelize where Christ has not been named,(AG) so that I will not build on someone else’s foundation,(AH)

20 My one ambition is to proclaim the gospel where the name of the Messiah is not known, so I don't build on someone else's foundation.

20 Accordingly I set a goal to preach the gospel, not where Christ’s name was already known, so that I would not build on another man’s foundation;

21 but as it is written,(AL)They who had no news of Him shall see,And they who have not heard shall understand.”

21 But as it is written, To whom he was not spoken of, they shall see: and they that have not heard shall understand.

21 but, as it is written:Those who were not told about Him will see,and those who have not heard will understand.(AI)(j)

21 Rather, as it is written, "Those who were never told about him will see, and those who have never heard will understand."

21 but [instead I would act on this goal] as it is written [in Scripture],They who had no news of Him shall see,And they who have not heard [of Him] shall understand.”(F)

Paul's Travel Plans

22 For this reason (AM)I have often been prevented from coming to you;

22 For which cause also I have been much hindered from coming to you.

22 That is why I have been prevented many times from coming to you.(AJ)

22 This is why I have so often been hindered from coming to you.

22 This [goal—my commitment to this principle] is the reason why I have often been prevented from coming to you [in Rome].

Paul's Travel Plans

23 but now, with no further place for me in these regions, and since I (AN)have had for many years a longing to come to you

23 But now having no more place in these parts, and having a great desire these many years to come unto you;

23 But now I no longer have any work to do in these provinces,(k) and I have strongly desired for many years to come to you(AK)

23 But now, having no further opportunities in these regions, I want to come to you, as I've desired to do for many years.

23 But now, with no further place for work in these regions, and since I have longed for many years to come to you—

24 whenever I (AO)go to Spain—for I hope to see you in passing, and to be (AP)helped on my way there by you, when I have first (AQ)enjoyed your company (k)for a while—

24 Whensoever I take my journey into Spain, I will come to you: for I trust to see you in my journey, and to be brought on my way thitherward by you, if first I be somewhat filled with your company.

24 whenever I travel to Spain.(l) For I hope to see you when I pass through, and to be assisted by you for my journey there,(AL) once I have first enjoyed your company(AM) for a while.

24 Now that I am on my way to Spain, I hope to see you when I come your way and, after I have enjoyed your company for a while, to be sent on by you.

24 whenever I go [on my trip] to Spain—I hope to see you as I pass through [Rome], and to be helped on my journey there by you, after I have first enjoyed your company for a little while.

25 but now, (AR)I am going to Jerusalem (AS)serving the (l)saints.

25 But now I go unto Jerusalem to minister unto the saints.

25 Right now I am traveling to Jerusalem(AN) to serve the saints,(AO)

25 Right now, however, I'm going to Jerusalem to minister to the saints,

25 But for now, I am going to Jerusalem to serve the saints (Jewish believers).

26 For (AT)Macedonia and (AU)Achaia have been pleased to make a contribution for the poor among the (m)saints in Jerusalem.

26 For it hath pleased them of Macedonia and Achaia to make a certain contribution for the poor saints which are at Jerusalem.

26 for Macedonia(AP) and Achaia(m)(AQ) were pleased to make a contribution for the poor among the saints in Jerusalem.

26 because the believers in Macedonia and Achaia have been eager to share their resources with the poor among the saints in Jerusalem.

26 For [Gentile believers in] (d)Macedonia and Achaia have been pleased to make a contribution for the poor among the saints (Jewish believers) in Jerusalem.

27 Yes, they were pleased to do so, and they are indebted to them. For (AV)if the Gentiles have shared in their spiritual things, they are indebted to minister to them also in material things.

27 It hath pleased them verily; and their debtors they are. For if the Gentiles have been made partakers of their spiritual things, their duty is also to minister unto them in carnal things.

27 Yes, they were pleased, and indeed are indebted to them. For if the Gentiles have shared in their spiritual benefits,(AR) then they are obligated to minister to Jews in material needs.

27 Yes, they were eager to do this, and in fact they are obligated to help them, for if the gentiles have shared in their spiritual blessings, they are obligated to be of service to them in material things.

27 They were pleased to do it, and they are indebted to them. For if the Gentiles have come to share in their spiritual things, then they are indebted to serve them also in [tangible] material things.

28 Therefore, when I have finished this, and (AW)have (n)put my seal on this fruit of theirs, I will (AX)go on by way of you to Spain.

28 When therefore I have performed this, and have sealed to them this fruit, I will come by you into Spain.

28 So when I have finished this and safely delivered the funds(n) to them,(AS) I will visit you on the way to Spain.

28 So when I have completed this task and have put my seal on this contribution of theirs, I will visit you on my way to Spain.

28 Therefore, when I have finished this [mission] and have safely given to them what has been raised, I will go on by way of you to Spain.

29 I know that when (AY)I come to you, I will come in the fullness of the blessing of Christ.

29 And I am sure that, when I come unto you, I shall come in the fulness of the blessing of the gospel of Christ.

29 I know that when I come to you, I will come in the fullness of the blessing(o) of Christ.

29 And I know that when I come to you I will come with the full blessing of the Messiah.

29 I know that when I do come to you, I will come in the abundant blessing of Christ.

30 Now I urge you, brethren, by our Lord Jesus Christ and by (AZ)the love of the Spirit, to (BA)strive together with me in your prayers to God for me,

30 Now I beseech you, brethren, for the Lord Jesus Christ's sake, and for the love of the Spirit, that ye strive together with me in your prayers to God for me;

30 Now I appeal to you, brothers, through our Lord Jesus Christ and through the love of the Spirit,(AT) to join with me in fervent prayers to God on my behalf.(AU)

30 Now I urge you, brothers, by our Lord Jesus, the Messiah, and by the love that the Spirit produces, to join me in my struggle, earnestly praying to God for me

30 I urge you, believers, by our Lord Jesus Christ and by the love of the Spirit, to join together with me in your prayers to God in my behalf,

31 that I may be (BB)rescued from those who are disobedient in Judea, and that my (BC)service for Jerusalem may prove acceptable to the (o)(BD)saints;

31 That I may be delivered from them that do not believe in Judaea; and that my service which I have for Jerusalem may be accepted of the saints;

31 Pray that I may be rescued from the unbelievers in Judea,(AV) that the gift I am bringing to(p) Jerusalem(AW) may be acceptable to the saints,(AX)

31 that I may be rescued from the unbelievers in Judea, that my ministry to Jerusalem may be acceptable to the saints,

31 [and pray] that I may be rescued from the unbelievers in Judea, and that my service for Jerusalem may be acceptable to the saints (Jewish believers) there;

32 so that (BE)I may come to you in joy by (BF)the will of God and find refreshing rest in your company.

32 That I may come unto you with joy by the will of God, and may with you be refreshed.

32 and that, by God’s will,(AY) I may come to you with joy(AZ) and be refreshed together with you.

32 and that if it's God's will, I may come to you with joy and be refreshed together with you.

32 so that by God’s will I may come to you with joy and find rest in your company.

33 Now (BG)the God of peace be with you all. Amen.

33 Now the God of peace be with you all. Amen.

33 The God of peace be with all of you.(BA) Amen.

33 Now may the God who grants peace be with all of you! Amen.

33 May the God of peace be with you all! Amen.
