Treasury of Scripture Knowledge
(For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified.
For indeed circumcision is of value if you
practice the Law; but if you are a transgressor of the Law, your circumcision has become uncircumcision.
“Now, O Israel, listen to the statutes and the judgments which
I am teaching you to perform, so that you may live and go in and take possession of the land which the Lord, the God of your fathers, is giving you.
Then Moses summoned all Israel and said to them:“Hear, O Israel, the statutes and the ordinances which I am speaking today in your
hearing, that you may learn them and observe them carefully.
O Israel, you should listen and
be careful to do it, that it may be well with you and that you may multiply greatly, just as the Lord, the God of your fathers, has promised you, in a land flowing with milk and honey.
It is not in heaven,
that you should say, ‘ Who will go up to heaven for us to get it for us and make us hear it, that we may observe it?’
I gave them My
statutes and informed them of My ordinances, by which, if a man observes them, he will live.
“But as for you, son of man,
your fellow citizens who talk about you by the walls and in the doorways of the houses, speak to one another, each to his brother, saying, ‘ Come now and hear what the message is which comes forth from the Lord.’
“ Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter.
But He answered and said to them,
“My mother and My brothers are these who hear the word of God and do it.”
But prove yourselves doers of the word, and not merely hearers who delude themselves.
1 John 2:29
If you know that
He is righteous, you know that everyone also who practices righteousness is born of Him.
1 John 3:7
Little children, make sure no one deceives you; the one who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous;
by the works of the Law no flesh will be justified in His sight; for through the Law comes the knowledge of sin.
For Moses writes that the man who practices the righteousness which is
based on law shall live by that righteousness.
And a lawyer stood up and put Him to the test, saying, “Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?”
no one is justified by the Law before God is evident; for, “ The righteous man shall live by faith.”
God who will justify the circumcised by faith and the uncircumcised through faith is one.
For if Abraham was justified
by works, he has something to boast about, but not before God.
And do not enter into judgment with Your servant,
For in Your sight
no man living is righteous.
For in Your sight
I tell you, this man went to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but he who humbles himself will be exalted.”
through Him everyone who believes is freed from all things, from which you could not be freed through the Law of Moses.
nevertheless knowing that
a man is not justified by the works of the Law but through faith in Christ Jesus, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, so that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the Law; since by the works of the Law no flesh will be justified.
You have been severed from Christ, you who
are seeking to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace.
Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered up Isaac his son on the altar?
