1 By night in my bed I sought him, whom my soul loveth: yea, diligently sought I him, but I found him not.

4 So when I was a little past them, I found him whom my soul loveth. I have gotten hold upon him, and will not let him go, until I bring him into my mother's house, and in to her chamber that bare me.

4 It was but a little that I passed from them, but I found him whom my soul loveth: I held him, and would not let him go, until I had brought him into my mother's house, and into the chamber of her that conceived me.

5 I charge you, O ye daughters of Jerusalem, by the roes, and by the hinds of the field, that ye stir not up, nor awake my love, till he please.

6 Who is this, that cometh up out of the wilderness like pillars of smoke, as it were a smell of Myrrh, frankincense and all manner spices of the Apothecary?

7 Behold, about Solomon's bedstead there stand sixty valiant men of the most mighty in Israel.

7 Behold his bed, which is Solomon's; threescore valiant men are about it, of the valiant of Israel.

7 It is Solomon’s royal litter(d)surrounded by 60 warriorsfrom the mighty of Israel.

7 Look! It's Solomon's sedan chair, with 60 of the best soldiers in Israel surrounding it.

8 They hold swords every one, and are expert in war. Every man hath his sword upon his thigh, because of fear in the night.

8 “All of them are wielders of the sword,(N)Expert in war;Each man has his (O)sword at his side,Guarding against the (j)(P)terrors of the night.

8 All of them are wearing swords and are experienced in battle. Each has his sword on his thigh, ready for the terror of the night.

9 King Solomon hath made himself a bedstead of the wood of Lebanon:

9 “King Solomon has made for himself a sedan chairFrom the timber of Lebanon.

9 King Solomon made himself a chariot of the wood of Lebanon.

9 King Solomon made a sedan chair(e) for himselfwith wood from Lebanon.

9 King Solomon made the sedan chair for himself from the trees of Lebanon.

10 the pillars are of silver, the covering of gold, the seat of purple, the ground pleasantly paved with love for the daughters of Jerusalem.

10 “He made its posts of silver,Its (k)back of goldAnd its seat of purple fabric,With its interior lovingly fitted outBy the (Q)daughters of Jerusalem.

10 He made the pillars thereof of silver, the bottom thereof of gold, the covering of it of purple, the midst thereof being paved with love, for the daughters of Jerusalem.

10 He made its posts of silver,its back(f) of gold,and its seat of purple.Its interior is inlaid with love(g)by the young women of Jerusalem.(K)

10 He made its posts of silver, its back of gold. Its seat was purple, and its interior was lovingly inlaid by the young women of Jerusalem.

11 Go forth, O ye daughters of Zion, and behold king Solomon in the crown, wherewith his mother crowned him in the day of his marriage, and in the day of the gladness of his heart.

11 “Go forth, O (R)daughters of Zion,And gaze on King Solomon with the (l)crownWith which his mother has crowned himOn the (S)day of his wedding,And on the day of his gladness of heart.”

11 Go forth, O ye daughters of Zion, and behold king Solomon with the crown wherewith his mother crowned him in the day of his espousals, and in the day of the gladness of his heart.

11 Come out, young women of Zion,(L)and gaze at King Solomon,wearing the crown his mother placed on himthe day of his wedding(M)the day of his heart’s rejoicing. >

11 Come out, young women of Zion, and see King Solomon with the crown with which his mother crowned him on his wedding day his day of great delight.
