Zechariah's Apocalyptic Vision

1 A day of the Lord is about to come when your possessions will be divided as plunder in your midst.

1 Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, and thy spoil shall be divided in the midst of thee.

1 Behold, a ()day is coming for the Lord when ()the spoil taken from you will be divided among you.

1 A day of the Lord is coming when your plunder will be divided in your presence.

1 "Look! A day is coming for the LORD, when your plunder will be divided among you.

2 For I will gather all the nations against Jerusalem to wage war; the city will be taken, its houses plundered, and the women raped. Then half of the city will go into exile, but the remainder of the people will not be taken away.

2 For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city.

2 For I will ()gather all the nations against Jerusalem to battle, and the city will be captured, the ()houses plundered, the women ravished and half of the city exiled, but the rest of the people will not be cut off from the city.

2 I will gather all the nations against Jerusalem for battle.() The city will be captured, the houses looted, and the women raped. Half the city will go into exile, but the rest of the people will not be removed from the city.

2 I will gather all the nations against Jerusalem, to lay siege against it. The city will be captured, the houses will be ransacked, the women raped, and half of the city will go into exile, but the remaining people will not be cut off from the city.

3 Then the Lord will go to battle and fight against those nations, just as he fought battles in ancient days.

3 Then shall the LORD go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle.

3 Then the Lord will go forth and ()fight against those nations, as ()when He fights on a day of battle.

3 Then the Lord will go out to fight against those nations as He fights on a day of battle.()

3 Then the LORD will go out to battle against those nations, waging war as in a day of battle.

4 On that day his feet will stand on the Mount of Olives which lies to the east of Jerusalem, and the Mount of Olives will be split in half from east to west, leaving a great valley. Half the mountain will move northward and the other half southward.

4 And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south.

4 In that day His feet will ()stand on the Mount of Olives, which is in front of Jerusalem on the east; and the Mount of Olives will be ()split in its middle from east to west by a very large valley, so that half of the mountain will move toward the north and the other half toward the south.

4 On that day His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives,() which faces Jerusalem on the east. The Mount of Olives will be split in half from east to west, forming a huge valley, so that half the mountain will move to the north and half to the south.

4 His feet will stand in that day on the Mount of Olives, east of Jerusalem. Then the Mount of Olives will be split in two from east to west, forming a very large valley, with half of the mountain moving toward the north and half toward the south.

5 Then you will escape through my mountain valley, for the mountains will extend to Azal. Indeed, you will flee as you fled from the earthquake in the days of King Uzziah of Judah. Then the Lord my God will come with all his holy ones with him.

5 And ye shall flee to the valley of the mountains; for the valley of the mountains shall reach unto Azal: yea, ye shall flee, like as ye fled from before the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah: and the LORD my God shall come, and all the saints with thee.

5 You will flee by the valley of My mountains, for the valley of the mountains will reach to Azel; yes, you will flee just as you fled before the ()earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah. ()Then the Lord, my God, will come, and all the holy ones with ()Him!

5 You will flee by My mountain valley,() for the valley of the mountains will extend to Azal. You will flee as you fled() from the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah.() Then the Lord my God will come and all the holy ones with Him.()()

5 You will run away through my mountain valley, because the valley of the mountains will extend as far as Azal. You will flee, as you fled from the earthquake during the reign of King Uzziah of Judah. And so the LORD my God will come, and all his holy ones will be accompanying you."

6 On that day there will be no light -- the sources of light in the heavens will congeal.

6 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the light shall not be clear, nor dark:

6 In that day there will be ()no light; the ()luminaries will dwindle.

6 On that day there will be no light; the sunlight and moonlight() will diminish.()()

6 "At that time, the daylight will be neither bright nor overcast.

7 It will happen in one day (a day known to the Lord); not in the day or the night, but in the evening there will be light.

7 But it shall be one day which shall be known to the LORD, not day, nor night: but it shall come to pass, that at evening time it shall be light.

7 For it will be ()a unique day which is ()known to the Lord, neither day nor night, but it will come about that at ()evening time there will be light.

7 It will be a day known only to Yahweh,() without day or night, but there will be light at evening.

7 It will be a unique day, known only to the LORD neither daytime nor nighttime and it will come about at twilight there will be light!

Living Water From Jerusalem

8 Moreover, on that day living waters will flow out from Jerusalem, half of them to the eastern sea and half of them to the western sea; it will happen both in summer and in winter.

8 And it shall be in that day, that living waters shall go out from Jerusalem; half of them toward the former sea, and half of them toward the hinder sea: in summer and in winter shall it be.

8 And in that day ()living waters will flow out of Jerusalem, half of them toward the eastern sea and the other half toward the western sea; it will be in summer as well as in winter.

8 On that day living water will flow out from Jerusalem,() half of it toward the eastern sea() and the other half toward the western sea,() in summer and winter alike.

8 At that time, flowing waters will run perennially from Jerusalem, half toward the Dead Sea and half to the Mediterranean Sea.

9 The Lord will then be king over all the earth. In that day the Lord will be seen as one with a single name.

9 And the LORD shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one LORD, and his name one.

9 And the Lord will be ()king over all the earth; in that day the Lord will be the only ()one, and His name the only one.

9 On that day Yahweh will become King over all the earth()—Yahweh alone, and His name alone.()

9 The LORD will be king over all the earth at that time. There will be one LORD, and his name the only one.

10 All the land will change and become like the Arabah from Geba to Rimmon, south of Jerusalem; and Jerusalem will be raised up and will stay in its own place from the Benjamin Gate to the site of the First Gate and on to the Corner Gate, and from the Tower of Hananel to the royal winepresses.

10 All the land shall be turned as a plain from Geba to Rimmon south of Jerusalem: and it shall be lifted up, and inhabited in her place, from Benjamin's gate unto the place of the first gate, unto the corner gate, and from the tower of Hananeel unto the king's winepresses.

10 All the land will be changed into a plain from (Q)Geba to ()Rimmon south of Jerusalem; but ()Jerusalem will ()rise and ()remain on its site from ()Benjamin’s Gate as far as the place of the First Gate to the (V)Corner Gate, and from the ()Tower of Hananel to the king’s wine presses.

10 All the land from Geba() to Rimmon() south of Jerusalem will be changed into a plain. But Jerusalem will be raised up and will remain() on its site from the Benjamin Gate() to the place of the First Gate,() to the Corner Gate, and from the Tower of Hananel to the royal winepresses.()

10 The entire land will become like the Arabah plain from Geba to Rimmon, south of Jerusalem. It will be raised up and inhabited where it is, from the Gate of Benjamin to the First Gate, then to the Corner Gate, to the Hananel Tower, and to the king's winepresses.

11 And people will settle there, and there will no longer be the threat of divine extermination -- Jerusalem will dwell in security.

11 And men shall dwell in it, and there shall be no more utter destruction; but Jerusalem shall be safely inhabited.

11 ()People will live in it, and there will ()no longer be a curse, for Jerusalem will ()dwell in security.

11 People will live there, and never again will there be a curse of complete destruction. So Jerusalem will dwell in security.

11 People will live there, there will be no more destruction, and Jerusalem will be safely inhabited."

12 But this will be the nature of the plague with which the Lord will strike all the nations that have fought against Jerusalem: Their flesh will decay while they stand on their feet, their eyes will rot away in their sockets, and their tongues will dissolve in their mouths.

12 And this shall be the plague wherewith the LORD will smite all the people that have fought against Jerusalem; Their flesh shall consume away while they stand upon their feet, and their eyes shall consume away in their holes, and their tongue shall consume away in their mouth.

12 Now this will be the plague with which the Lord will strike all the peoples who have gone to war against Jerusalem; their flesh will ()rot while they stand on their feet, and their eyes will rot in their sockets, and their tongue will rot in their mouth.

12 This will be the plague the Lord strikes all the peoples with, who have warred against Jerusalem: their flesh will rot while they stand on their feet, their eyes will rot in their sockets, and their tongues will rot in their mouths.

12 "This will be the plague with which the LORD inflicts all of the people who have attacked Jerusalem: he will cause their flesh to rot away, even while they're standing on their feet. He will cause their eyes to rot away in their sockets, and their tongues to rot away in their mouths.

13 On that day there will be great confusion from the Lord among them; they will seize each other and attack one another violently.

13 And it shall come to pass in that day, that a great tumult from the LORD shall be among them; and they shall lay hold every one on the hand of his neighbour, and his hand shall rise up against the hand of his neighbour.

13 It will come about in that day that a great panic from the Lord will ()fall on them; and they will ()seize one another’s hand, and the hand of one will ()be lifted against the hand of another.

13 On that day a great panic from the Lord will be among them, so that each will seize the hand of another, and the hand of one will rise against the other.

13 At that time, they will be stricken with a terrible panic from the LORD. Everyone will attack each other.

14 Moreover, Judah will fight at Jerusalem, and the wealth of all the surrounding nations will be gathered up -- gold, silver, and clothing in great abundance.

14 And Judah also shall fight at Jerusalem; and the wealth of all the heathen round about shall be gathered together, gold, and silver, and apparel, in great abundance.

14 ()Judah also will fight at Jerusalem; and the ()wealth of all the surrounding nations will be gathered, gold and silver and garments in great abundance.

14 Judah will also fight at Jerusalem, and the wealth of all the surrounding nations will be collected: gold, silver, and clothing in great abundance.()

14 Judah, too, will fight at Jerusalem. Then the wealth of the surrounding nations will be gathered up: gold, silver, and clothing in great abundance.

15 This is the kind of plague that will devastate horses, mules, camels, donkeys, and all the other animals in those camps.

15 And so shall be the plague of the horse, of the mule, of the camel, and of the ass, and of all the beasts that shall be in these tents, as this plague.

15 So also like this ()plague will be the plague on the horse, the mule, the camel, the donkey and all the cattle that will be in those camps.

15 The same plague as the previous one will strike() the horses, mules, camels, donkeys, and all the animals that are in those camps.

15 A similar plague will also strike horses, mules, camels, donkeys, and all of the animals in those camps."

16 Then all who survive from all the nations that came to attack Jerusalem will go up annually to worship the King, the Lord who rules over all, and to observe the Feast of Tabernacles.

16 And it shall come to pass, that every one that is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall even go up from year to year to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, and to keep the feast of tabernacles.

16 Then it will come about that any who are left of all the nations that went against Jerusalem will ()go up from year to year to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, and to celebrate the ()Feast of Booths.

16 Then all the survivors from the nations that came against Jerusalem will go up year after year to worship the King, the Lord of Hosts, and to celebrate the Festival of Booths.()

16 "It will come about that all of the survivors of the nations who came against Jerusalem will come there from year to year to worship the King, the LORD of the Heavenly Armies, and to observe the Festival of Tents.

17 But if any of the nations anywhere on earth refuse to go up to Jerusalem to worship the King, the Lord who rules over all, they will get no rain.

17 And it shall be, that whoso will not come up of all the families of the earth unto Jerusalem to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, even upon them shall be no rain.

17 And it will be that whichever of the families of the earth does not go up to Jerusalem to worship the ()King, the Lord of hosts, there will be ()no rain on them.

17 Should any of the families of the earth not go up to Jerusalem to worship the King, the Lord of Hosts, rain will not fall on them.

17 If anyone from the families of the earth will not come to Jerusalem to worship the King, the LORD of the Heavenly Armies, there will be no rain for them.

18 If the Egyptians will not do so, they will get no rain -- instead there will be the kind of plague which the Lord inflicts on any nations that do not go up to celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles.

18 And if the family of Egypt go not up, and come not, that have no rain; there shall be the plague, wherewith the LORD will smite the heathen that come not up to keep the feast of tabernacles.

18 If the family of Egypt does not go up or enter, then no rain will fall on them; it will be the ()plague with which the Lord smites the nations who do not go up to celebrate the Feast of Booths.

18 And if the people() of Egypt will not go up and enter, then rain will not fall on them; this will be the plague the Lord inflicts on the nations who do not go up to celebrate the Festival of Booths.

18 If the people of Egypt do not come to Jerusalem to take part, they will have no annual Nile overflow. A plague will come from the LORD to strike the nations who do not come to observe the Festival of Tents.

19 This will be the punishment of Egypt and of all nations that do not go up to celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles.

19 This shall be the punishment of Egypt, and the punishment of all nations that come not up to keep the feast of tabernacles.

19 This will be the ()punishment of Egypt, and the ()punishment of all the nations who do not go up to celebrate the Feast of Booths.

19 This will be the punishment of Egypt and all the nations that do not go up to celebrate the Festival of Booths.

19 This will be the punishment for Egypt and all nations who do not come to observe the Festival of Tents."

20 On that day the bells of the horses will bear the inscription "Holy to the Lord." The cooking pots in the Lord's temple will be as holy as the bowls in front of the altar.

20 In that day shall there be upon the bells of the horses, HOLINESS UNTO THE LORD; and the pots in the LORD'S house shall be like the bowls before the altar.

20 In that day there will be inscribed on the bells of the horses, “()HOLY TO THE LORD.” And the ()cooking pots in the Lord’s house will be like the bowls before the altar.

20 On that day, the words HOLY TO THE LORD will be on the bells of the horses.() The pots in the house of the Lord will be like the sprinkling basins before the altar.

20 "At that time, there will be written on the bells of the horses: HOLINESS TO THE LORD

21 Every cooking pot in Jerusalem and Judah will become holy in the sight of the Lord who rules over all, so that all who offer sacrifices may come and use some of them to boil their sacrifices in them. On that day there will no longer be a Canaanite in the house of the Lord who rules over all.

21 Yea, every pot in Jerusalem and in Judah shall be holiness unto the LORD of hosts: and all they that sacrifice shall come and take of them, and seethe therein: and in that day there shall be no more the Canaanite in the house of the LORD of hosts.

21 Every cooking pot in Jerusalem and in Judah will be ()holy to the Lord of hosts; and all who sacrifice will come and take of them and boil in them. And there will no longer be a ()()Canaanite in the house of the Lord of hosts in that day.

21 Every pot in Jerusalem and in Judah will be holy to the Lord of Hosts. Everyone who sacrifices will come and take some of the pots to cook in. And on that day there will no longer be a Canaanite() in the house of the Lord of Hosts.

21 and the pots in the Temple of the LORD will be like the bowls in front of the altar every pot in Jerusalem and in Judah will be consecrated to the LORD of the Heavenly Armies. Everyone who offers sacrifices will come, will take them, and will cook in them. Furthermore, at that time, there will no longer be a Canaanite in the Temple of the LORD of the Heavenly Armies."
