Don't Fret Because of Evildoers

אַל־

’al-

Not

תִּתְחַ֥ר

tiṯ·ḥar

､ בַּמְּרֵעִ֑ים

bam·mə·rê·‘îm;

because of evildoers ､

אַל־

’al-

תְּ֝קַנֵּ֗א

tə·qan·nê,

בְּעֹשֵׂ֥י

bə·‘ō·śê

of the workers

. עַוְלָֽה׃

‘aw·lāh.

כִּ֣י

kî

､ כֶ֭חָצִיר

ḵe·ḥā·ṣîr

like the grass ､

מְהֵרָ֣ה

mə·hê·rāh

יִמָּ֑לוּ

yim·mā·lū;

they shall be cut down

וּכְיֶ֥רֶק

ū·ḵə·ye·req

and as green

דֶּ֝֗שֶׁא

de·še,

the herb

. יִבּוֹלֽוּן׃

yib·bō·w·lūn.

בְּטַ֣ח

bə·ṭaḥ

､ בַּֽ֭יהוָה

Yah·weh

in Yahweh ､

וַעֲשֵׂה־

wa·‘ă·śêh-

and do

– ט֑וֹב

ṭō·wḇ;

good –

שְׁכָן־

šə·ḵān-

､ אֶ֝֗רֶץ

’e·reṣ,

in the land ､

וּרְעֵ֥ה

ū·rə·‘êh

and feed on

. אֱמוּנָֽה׃

’ĕ·mū·nāh.

His faithfulness .

וְהִתְעַנַּ֥ג

wə·hiṯ·‘an·naḡ

And Delight yourself

עַל־

‘al-

in

– יְהוָ֑ה

Yah·weh;

וְיִֽתֶּן־

wə·yit·ten-

and He shall give

לְ֝ךָ֗

lə·ḵā,

מִשְׁאֲלֹ֥ת

miš·’ă·lōṯ

. לִבֶּֽךָ׃

lib·be·ḵā.

of your heart .

גּ֣וֹל

gō·wl

עַל־

‘al-

to

– יְהוָ֣ה

Yah·weh

דַּרְכֶּ֑ךָ

dar·ke·ḵā;

וּבְטַ֥ח

ū·ḇə·ṭaḥ

עָ֝לָ֗יו

‘ā·lāw,

in Him

וְה֣וּא

wə·hū

and He

. יַעֲשֶֽׂה׃

ya·‘ă·śeh.

shall bring [it] to pass .

וְהוֹצִ֣יא

wə·hō·w·ṣî

And He shall bring forth

､ כָא֣וֹר

ḵā·’ō·wr

as the light ､

צִדְקֶ֑ךָ

ṣiḏ·qe·ḵā;

your righteousness

וּ֝מִשְׁפָּטֶ֗ךָ

ū·miš·pā·ṭe·ḵā,

and your justice

. כַּֽצָּהֳרָֽיִם׃

kaṣ·ṣā·ho·rā·yim.

as the noonday .

דּ֤וֹם ׀

dō·wm

､ לַיהוָה֮

Yah·weh

in Yahweh ､

וְהִתְח֪וֹלֵ֫ל

wə·hiṯ·ḥō·w·lêl

and wait patiently

ל֥וֹ

lōw

אַל־

’al-

not

תִּ֭תְחַר

tiṯ·ḥar

בְּמַצְלִ֣יחַ

bə·maṣ·lî·aḥ

because of Him who prospers

､ דַּרְכּ֑וֹ

dar·kōw;

in his way ､

בְּ֝אִ֗ישׁ

bə·’îš,

because of the man

עֹשֶׂ֥ה

‘ō·śeh

who brings to pass

. מְזִמּֽוֹת׃

mə·zim·mō·wṯ.

wicked schemes .

הֶ֣רֶף

he·rep̄

､ מֵ֭אַף

mê·’ap̄

וַעֲזֹ֣ב

wa·‘ă·zōḇ

– חֵמָ֑ה

ḥê·māh;

אַל־

’al-

not

תִּ֝תְחַ֗ר

tiṯ·ḥar,

אַךְ־

’aḵ-

. לְהָרֵֽעַ׃

lə·hā·rê·a‘.

it causes harm .

כִּֽי־

kî-

מְ֭רֵעִים

mə·rê·‘îm

– יִכָּרֵת֑וּן

yik·kā·rê·ṯūn;

shall be cut off –

וְקֹוֵ֥י

wə·qō·wê

but those who wait on

､ יְ֝הוָ֗ה

Yah·weh

הֵ֣מָּה

hêm·māh

יִֽירְשׁוּ־

yî·rə·šū-

. אָֽרֶץ׃

’ā·reṣ.

the earth .

וְע֣וֹד

wə·‘ō·wḏ

מְ֭עַט

mə·‘aṭ

וְאֵ֣ין

wə·’ên

and [shall be] no [more]

רָשָׁ֑ע

rā·šā‘;

וְהִתְבּוֹנַ֖נְתָּ

wə·hiṯ·bō·w·nan·tā

and indeed you will look carefully

עַל־

‘al-

､ מְקוֹמ֣וֹ

mə·qō·w·mōw

. וְאֵינֶֽנּוּ׃

wə·’ê·nen·nū.

but it [shall be] no [more] .

וַעֲנָוִ֥ים

wa·‘ă·nā·wîm

But the meek

יִֽירְשׁוּ־

yî·rə·šū-

– אָ֑רֶץ

’ā·reṣ;

the earth –

וְ֝הִתְעַנְּג֗וּ

wə·hiṯ·‘an·nə·ḡū,

and shall delight themselves

עַל־

‘al-

in

רֹ֥ב

rōḇ

. שָׁלֽוֹם׃

šā·lō·wm.

of peace .

זֹמֵ֣ם

zō·mêm

רָ֭שָׁע

rā·šā‘

､ לַצַּדִּ֑יק

laṣ·ṣad·dîq;

against the just ､

וְחֹרֵ֖ק

wə·ḥō·rêq

עָלָ֣יו

‘ā·lāw

at him

. שִׁנָּֽיו׃

šin·nāw.

with his teeth .

אֲדֹנָ֥י

’ă·ḏō·nāy

The Lord

יִשְׂחַק־

yiś·ḥaq-

ל֑וֹ

lōw;

at him

כִּֽי־

kî-

רָ֝אָ֗ה

rā·’āh,

כִּֽי־

kî-

יָבֹ֥א

yā·ḇō

. יוֹמֽוֹ׃

yō·w·mōw.

､ חֶ֤רֶב ׀

ḥe·reḇ

The sword ､

פָּֽתְח֣וּ

pā·ṯə·ḥū

רְשָׁעִים֮

rə·šā·‘îm

וְדָרְכ֪וּ

wə·ḏā·rə·ḵū

､ קַ֫שְׁתָּ֥ם

qaš·tām

לְ֭הַפִּיל

lə·hap·pîl

עָנִ֣י

‘ā·nî

the poor

､ וְאֶבְי֑וֹן

wə·’eḇ·yō·wn;

and needy ､

לִ֝טְב֗וֹחַ

liṭ·ḇō·w·aḥ,

יִשְׁרֵי־

yiš·rê-

those who are of upright

. דָֽרֶךְ׃

ḏā·reḵ.

חַ֭רְבָּם

ḥar·bām

תָּב֣וֹא

tā·ḇō·w

､ בְלִבָּ֑ם

ḇə·lib·bām;

their own heart ､

וְ֝קַשְּׁתוֹתָ֗ם

wə·qaš·šə·ṯō·w·ṯām,

. תִּשָּׁבַֽרְנָה׃

tiš·šā·ḇar·nāh.

shall be broken .

טוֹב־

ṭō·wḇ-

מְ֭עַט

mə·‘aṭ

לַצַּדִּ֑יק

laṣ·ṣad·dîq;

that a righteous man has

מֵ֝הֲמ֗וֹן

mê·hă·mō·wn,

than the riches

רְשָׁעִ֥ים

rə·šā·‘îm

. רַבִּֽים׃

rab·bîm.

כִּ֤י

kî

זְרוֹע֣וֹת

zə·rō·w·‘ō·wṯ

the arms

רְ֭שָׁעִים

rə·šā·‘îm

of the wicked

､ תִּשָּׁבַ֑רְנָה

tiš·šā·ḇar·nāh;

shall be broken ､

וְסוֹמֵ֖ךְ

wə·sō·w·mêḵ

צַדִּיקִ֣ים

ṣad·dî·qîm

. יְהוָֽה׃

Yah·weh.

יוֹדֵ֣עַ

yō·w·ḏê·a‘

יְ֭הוָה

Yah·weh

יְמֵ֣י

yə·mê

the days

､ תְמִימִ֑ם

ṯə·mî·mim;

of the upright ､

וְ֝נַחֲלָתָ֗ם

wə·na·ḥă·lā·ṯām,

and their inheritance

לְעוֹלָ֥ם

lə·‘ō·w·lām

. תִּהְיֶֽה׃

tih·yeh.

shall be .

לֹֽא־

lō-

Not

יֵ֭בֹשׁוּ

yê·ḇō·šū

they shall be ashamed

– בְּעֵ֣ת

bə·‘êṯ

in the time –

רָעָ֑ה

rā·‘āh;

וּבִימֵ֖י

ū·ḇî·mê

and in the days

רְעָב֣וֹן

rə·‘ā·ḇō·wn

. יִשְׂבָּֽעוּ׃

yiś·bā·‘ū.

they shall be satisfied .

כִּ֤י

kî

But

רְשָׁעִ֨ים ׀

rə·šā·‘îm

､ יֹאבֵ֗דוּ

yō·ḇê·ḏū,

shall perish ､

וְאֹיְבֵ֣י

wə·’ō·yə·ḇê

and the enemies

יְ֭הוָה

Yah·weh

כִּיקַ֣ר

kî·qar

Like the splendor

､ כָּרִ֑ים

kā·rîm;

of the meadows ､

– כָּל֖וּ

kā·lū

shall vanish –

בֶעָשָׁ֣ן

ḇe·‘ā·šān

. כָּֽלוּ׃

kā·lū.

they shall vanish away .

､ לֹוֶ֣ה

lō·weh

רָ֭שָׁע

rā·šā‘

וְלֹ֣א

wə·lō

and not

יְשַׁלֵּ֑ם

yə·šal·lêm;

וְ֝צַדִּ֗יק

wə·ṣad·dîq,

but the righteous

､ חוֹנֵ֥ן

ḥō·w·nên

shows mercy ､

. וְנוֹתֵֽן׃

wə·nō·w·ṯên.

and gives .

כִּ֣י

kî

מְ֭בֹרָכָיו

mə·ḇō·rā·ḵāw

[those] blessed by Him

יִ֣ירְשׁוּ

yî·rə·šū

– אָ֑רֶץ

’ā·reṣ;

the earth –

וּ֝מְקֻלָּלָ֗יו

ū·mə·qul·lā·lāw,

but [those] cursed by Him

. יִכָּרֵֽתוּ׃

yik·kā·rê·ṯū.

shall be cut off .

מֵ֭יְהוָה

Yah·weh

מִֽצְעֲדֵי־

miṣ·‘ă·ḏê-

גֶ֥בֶר

ḡe·ḇer

of a [good] man

כּוֹנָ֗נוּ

kō·w·nā·nū,

וְדַרְכּ֥וֹ

wə·ḏar·kōw

and in his way

. יֶחְפָּֽץ׃

yeḥ·pāṣ.

כִּֽי־

kî-

､ יִפֹּ֥ל

yip·pōl

he fall ､

לֹֽא־

lō-

not

– יוּטָ֑ל

yū·ṭāl;

he shall be utterly cast down –

כִּֽי־

kî-

יְ֝הוָ֗ה

Yah·weh

סוֹמֵ֥ךְ

sō·w·mêḵ

. יָדֽוֹ׃

yā·ḏōw.

[with] His hand .

､ נַ֤עַר ׀

na·‘ar

הָיִ֗יתִי

hā·yî·ṯî,

גַּם־

gam-

and [now]

– זָ֫קַ֥נְתִּי

zā·qan·tî

am old –

וְֽלֹא־

wə·lō-

and yet not

רָ֭אִיתִי

rā·’î·ṯî

צַדִּ֣יק

ṣad·dîq

､ נֶעֱזָ֑ב

ne·‘ĕ·zāḇ;

וְ֝זַרְע֗וֹ

wə·zar·‘ōw,

nor his descendants

מְבַקֶּשׁ־

mə·ḇaq·qeš-

. לָֽחֶם׃

lā·ḥem.

כָּל־

kāl-

הַ֭יּוֹם

hay·yō·wm

-

､ חוֹנֵ֣ן

ḥō·w·nên

[He is] merciful ､

– וּמַלְוֶ֑ה

ū·mal·weh;

and lends –

וְ֝זַרְע֗וֹ

wə·zar·‘ōw,

and his descendants [are]

. לִבְרָכָֽה׃

liḇ·rā·ḵāh.

ס֣וּר

sūr

､ מֵ֭רָע

mê·rā‘

וַעֲשֵׂה־

wa·‘ă·śêh-

and do

– ט֗וֹב

ṭō·wḇ,

good –

וּשְׁכֹ֥ן

ū·šə·ḵōn

. לְעוֹלָֽם׃

lə·‘ō·w·lām.

כִּ֤י

kî

יְהוָ֨ה ׀

Yah·weh

אֹ֘הֵ֤ב

’ō·hêḇ

､ מִשְׁפָּ֗ט

miš·pāṭ,

וְלֹא־

wə·lō-

and not

יַעֲזֹ֣ב

ya·‘ă·zōḇ

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

– חֲ֭סִידָיו

ḥă·sî·ḏāw

､ לְעוֹלָ֣ם

lə·‘ō·w·lām

נִשְׁמָ֑רוּ

niš·mā·rū;

they are preserved

וְזֶ֖רַע

wə·ze·ra‘

but the descendants

רְשָׁעִ֣ים

rə·šā·‘îm

of the wicked

. נִכְרָֽת׃

niḵ·rāṯ.

shall be cut off .

צַדִּיקִ֥ים

ṣad·dî·qîm

יִֽירְשׁוּ־

yî·rə·šū-

､ אָ֑רֶץ

’ā·reṣ;

the land ､

וְיִשְׁכְּנ֖וּ

wə·yiš·kə·nū

לָעַ֣ד

lā·‘aḏ

. עָלֶֽיהָ׃

‘ā·le·hā.

in it .

פִּֽי־

pî-

צַ֭דִּיק

ṣad·dîq

of the righteous

יֶהְגֶּ֣ה

yeh·geh

､ חָכְמָ֑ה

ḥāḵ·māh

וּ֝לְשׁוֹנ֗וֹ

ū·lə·šō·w·nōw,

תְּדַבֵּ֥ר

tə·ḏab·bêr

. מִשְׁפָּֽט׃

miš·pāṭ.

תּוֹרַ֣ת

tō·w·raṯ

The law

אֱלֹהָ֣יו

’ĕ·lō·hāw

– בְּלִבּ֑וֹ

bə·lib·bōw;

[is] in his heart –

לֹ֖א

lō

תִמְעַ֣ד

ṯim·‘aḏ

. אֲשֻׁרָיו׃

’ă·šu·rāw.

צוֹפֶ֣ה

ṣō·w·p̄eh

רָ֭שָׁע

rā·šā‘

､ לַצַּדִּ֑יק

laṣ·ṣad·dîq;

the righteous ､

וּ֝מְבַקֵּ֗שׁ

ū·mə·ḇaq·qêš,

. לַהֲמִיתוֹ׃‪‬

la·hă·mî·ṯōw

יְ֭הוָה

Yah·weh

לֹא־

lō-

not

יַעַזְבֶ֣נּוּ

ya·‘az·ḇen·nū

､ בְיָד֑וֹ

ḇə·yā·ḏōw;

in his hand ､

וְלֹ֥א

wə·lō

יַ֝רְשִׁיעֶ֗נּוּ

yar·šî·‘en·nū,

. בְּהִשָּׁפְטֽוֹ׃

bə·hiš·šā·p̄ə·ṭōw.

when he is judged .

קַוֵּ֤ה

qaw·wêh

אֶל־

’el-

on

､ יְהוָ֨ה ׀

Yah·weh

וּשְׁמֹ֬ר

ū·šə·mōr

and keep

､ דַּרְכּ֗וֹ

dar·kōw,

וִֽ֭ירוֹמִמְךָ

wî·rō·w·mim·ḵā

and He shall exalt you

לָרֶ֣שֶׁת

lā·re·šeṯ

– אָ֑רֶץ

’ā·reṣ;

the land –

､ בְּהִכָּרֵ֖ת

bə·hik·kā·rêṯ

when are cut off ､

רְשָׁעִ֣ים

rə·šā·‘îm

. תִּרְאֶֽה׃

tir·’eh.

you shall see [it] .

רָ֭אִיתִי

rā·’î·ṯî

רָשָׁ֣ע

rā·šā‘

､ עָרִ֑יץ

‘ā·rîṣ;

in great power ､

וּ֝מִתְעָרֶ֗ה

ū·miṯ·‘ā·reh,

and spreading himself

כְּאֶזְרָ֥ח

kə·’ez·rāḥ

like a native [tree]

. רַעֲנָֽן׃

ra·‘ă·nān.

､ וַ֭יַּֽעֲבֹר

way·ya·‘ă·ḇōr

And yet he passed away ､

､ וְהִנֵּ֣ה

wə·hin·nêh

and behold ､

– אֵינֶ֑נּוּ

’ê·nen·nū;

he [was] no [more] –

וָֽ֝אֲבַקְשֵׁ֗הוּ

wā·’ă·ḇaq·šê·hū,

and indeed I sought him

וְלֹ֣א

wə·lō

but not

. נִמְצָֽא׃

nim·ṣā.

he could be found .

שְׁמָר־

šə·mār-

תָּ֭ם

tām

the blameless [man]

וּרְאֵ֣ה

ū·rə·’êh

– יָשָׁ֑ר

yā·šār;

the upright –

כִּֽי־

kî-

אַחֲרִ֖ית

’a·ḥă·rîṯ

לְאִ֣ישׁ

lə·’îš

. שָׁלֽוֹם׃

šā·lō·wm.

[is] peace .

וּֽ֭פֹשְׁעִים

ū·p̄ō·šə·‘îm

But the transgressors

נִשְׁמְד֣וּ

niš·mə·ḏū

shall be destroyed

– יַחְדָּ֑ו

yaḥ·dāw;

אַחֲרִ֖ית

’a·ḥă·rîṯ

רְשָׁעִ֣ים

rə·šā·‘îm

of the wicked

. נִכְרָֽתָה׃

niḵ·rā·ṯāh.

shall be cut off .

וּתְשׁוּעַ֣ת

ū·ṯə·šū·‘aṯ

But the salvation

צַ֭דִּיקִים

ṣad·dî·qîm

of the righteous

מֵיְהוָ֑ה

Yah·weh;

[is] from Yahweh

מָֽ֝עוּזָּ֗ם

mā·‘ūz·zām,

[He is] their strength

בְּעֵ֣ת

bə·‘êṯ

in the time

. צָרָֽה׃

ṣā·rāh.

וַֽיַּעְזְרֵ֥ם

way·ya‘·zə·rêm

And shall help them

יְהוָ֗ה

Yah·weh

וַֽיְפַ֫לְּטֵ֥ם

way·p̄al·lə·ṭêm

and deliver them

יְפַלְּטֵ֣ם

yə·p̄al·lə·ṭêm

He shall deliver them

､ מֵ֭רְשָׁעִים

mê·rə·šā·‘îm

from the wicked ､

וְיוֹשִׁיעֵ֑ם

wə·yō·wō·šî·‘êm;

כִּי־

kî-

חָ֥סוּ

ḥā·sū

. בֽוֹ׃

ḇōw.

in Him .
