Matthew 22:41-46 - David's Son And Lord

⁴¹ And the Pharisees, having been gathered together, Jesus questioned them, ⁴² saying, "What think ye concerning the Christ? Whose Son is He?" They say to Him, "David's."

⁴³ He saith to them, "How then does David in the Spirit call Him Lord, saying,

⁴⁴ The Lord said to my Lord, 'Sit on My right hand, till I put Thy foes beneath Thy feet.'

⁴⁵ If, then, David calls Him Lord, how is He his Son?" ⁴⁶ And no one was able to answer Him a word; nor did any one dare from that day to question Him any more.

³⁵ And Jesus, answering, said, while teaching in the temple, "How do the scribes say that the Christ is David's Son? ³⁶ David himself said in the Holy Spirit, 'The Lord said to my Lord, Sit on My right hand, until I put Thy enemies underneath Thy feet.'

³⁷ David himself calls Him Lord; and whence is He his Son?" And the great multitude heard Him gladly.

⁴¹ And He said to them, "How say they that the Christ is David's Son? ⁴² For David himself says in the book of Psalms, 'The Lord said to my Lord, Sit Thou on My right hand, ⁴³ until I make Thy enemies a footstool of Thy feet.'

⁴⁴ David, therefore, calls Him Lord; and how is He his Son?"
