Matthew 23:37-39 - The Lament Over Jerusalem
37 Jerusalem! Jerusalem! that kills the prophets, and stones those sent to her! how often did I wish to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chickens under her wings, and ye would not! 38 Behold, your house is left to you desolate! 39 For I say to you, ye shall in no wise see Me henceforth, till ye shall say, 'Blessed is He That cometh in the name of the Lord!'"
31 In that very hour, there came certain Pharisees, saying to Him, "Go out, and journey hence; because Herod is wishing to kill Thee."
32 And He said to them, "Going your way, tell this fox, 'Behold, I cast out demons, and perfect cures, to-day and to-morrow; and on the third day I am made perfect. 33 But yet I must go on My way to-day, and to-morrow, and the following day; because it is not possible that a prophet perish outside of Jerusalem!'
34 O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, that kills the prophets, and stones those sent to her; how often I wished to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her own brood under her wings, and ye would not! Behold, your house is abandoned to you! 35 But I say to you, ye shall in no wise see Me, until ye shall say, 'Blessed is He Who is coming in the name of the Lord!'"
