Isaiah 43:16-Isaiah 44:5 - Despite The People Of Israel's Past Sin, The Lord Will Forgive Them
16 Thus says LORD, who makes a way in the sea, and a path in the mighty waters, 17 who brings forth the chariot and horse, the army and the mighty man (they lay down together; they shall not rise; they are extinct; they are quenched as a wick): 18 Do not remember ye the former things, nor consider the things of old. 19 Behold, I will do a new thing. Now it shall spring forth. Shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert. 20 The beasts of the field shall honor me, the jackals and the ostriches, because I give waters in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert, to give drink to my people, my chosen, 21 the people whom I formed for myself, that they might set forth my praise.
22 Yet thou have not called upon me, O Jacob, but thou have been weary of me, O Israel. 23 Thou have not brought me from thy sheep for burnt-offerings, nor have thou honored me with thy sacrifices. I have not burdened thee with offerings, nor wearied thee with frankincense. 24 Thou have bought me no sweet cane with money, nor have thou filled me with the fat of thy sacrifices. But thou have burdened me with thy sins. Thou have wearied me with thine iniquities.
25 I, even I, am he who blots out thy transgressions for my own sake, and I will not remember thy sins. 26 Put me in remembrance. Let us plead together. Set thou forth [thy case] that thou may be justified. 27 Thy first father sinned, and thy teachers have transgressed against me. 28 Therefore I will profane the rulers of the sanctuary, and I will make Jacob a curse, and Israel a reviling.
1 Yet now hear, O Jacob my servant, and Israel, whom I have chosen. 2 Thus says LORD who made thee, and formed thee from the womb, who will help thee: Fear not, O Jacob my servant, and thou, Jeshurun, whom I have chosen. 3 For I will pour water upon him who is thirsty, and streams upon the dry ground. I will pour my Spirit upon thy seed, and my blessing upon thine offspring. 4 And they shall spring up among the grass, as willows by the watercourses. 5 One shall say, I am LORD's, and another shall call [himself] by the name of Jacob, and another shall subscribe with his hand to LORD, and surname [himself] by the name of Israel.
