2 Kings 11:17-20 - Jehoiada's Reforms
17 And Jehoiada made a covenant both between the LORD and the king, and between the people and the LORD, that they should be the LORD's people: and also between the king and the people. 18 Then all the people of the land went into the house of Baal, and destroyed his altars, and brake down his images lustily, and slew Nathan, the priest of Baal, before the altar. And the priest set watchmen in the house of the LORD, 19 and took the rulers over hundreds and the captains and the guard and all the people of the land. And they brought the king from the house of the LORD and went the way of the gate of the guard of the king's house. And he sat him down on the seat of the kings. 20 And all the people of the land rejoiced, and the city was in quiet. And they slew Athaliah with the sword in the house of the king.
16 And Jehoiada made a bond between him and all the people and the king, to be the LORD's people. 17 And all the people went to the house of Baal and destroyed it, and brake his altars and his images, and slew Mattan the priest of Baal before the altars.
18 And Jehoiada put the offices of the house of the LORD in the hands of the priests the Levites, which David had divided in companies for the house of the LORD, to offer burnt offerings unto the LORD, as it is written in the law of Moses, with rejoicing and singing as it was ordained by David. 19 And he set porters unto the gates of the house of the LORD, that none that was unclean in any point should enter in. 20 And he took the captains of hundreds and the nobles, and the governors of the people and all the folk of the land, and brought the king down out of the house of the LORD, and they went through the high gate in the king's house, and set the king upon the seat of the kingdom. 21 And all the people of the land rejoiced, and the city was in tranquility: but they slew Athaliah with the sword.
