Luke 23:1-5 - Jesus Brought Before Pilate
And the whole multitude of them, rising up, led Him before Pilate. 2 And they began to accuse Him, saying, "We found This Man perverting our nation, and forbidding to give tribute to Caesar, and saying that He Himself is Christ a King!"
And Pilate asked Him, saying, "Art Thou the King of the Jews?" And He, answering, said to him, "You say it."
And Pilate said to the high priests and to the multitudes, "I find no fault in This Man."
But they were the more urgent, saying, "He stirreth up the people, teaching throughout the whole of Judaea, and beginning from Galilee even to this place."
They led Jesus, therefore, from Caiaphas into the Praetorium; and it was early; and they themselves entered not into the Praetorium, that they might not be defiled, but might eat the passover.
Pilate, therefore, went out to them, and says, "What accusation do ye bring against this Man?"
They answered and said to him, "If this Man were not an evil-doer, we would not have delivered Him up to you."
Pilate, therefore, said to them, "Take Him yourselves, and judge Him according to your law." The Jews said to him, "It is not lawful for us to kill anyone:" 32 that the word of Jesus might he fulfilled, which He spake, signifying by what manner of death He was about to die.
