Matthew 27:27-31 - Jesus Is Mocked

Matthew 27:27-31

27 Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus into the praetorium and got all the regiment round him; 28 they stripped him and threw a scarlet mantle round him, 29 plaited a crown of thorns and set it on his head, put a stick in his hand, and knelt before him in mockery, crying, "Hail, king of the Jews!" 30 They spat on him, they took the stick and struck him on the head, 31 and after making fun of him they stripped him of the mantle, put on his own clothes, and took him off to be crucified.

Mark 15:16-20

16 The soldiers took him inside the courtyard (that is, the praetorium) and got all the regiment together; 17 then they dressed him in purple, put on his head a crown of thorns which they had plaited, 18 and began to salute him with, "Hail, O king of the Jews!" 19 They struck him on the head with a stick and spat upon him and bent their knees to him in homage. 20 Then, after making fun of him, they stripped off the purple, put on his own clothes, and took him away to crucify him.
