Matthew 26:31-35 - Jesus Predicts Peter's Denial

Matthew 26:31-35

31 Then Jesus said to them, "You will all fall away because of me this night; for it is written, 'I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock will be scattered.'

32 But after I have been raised, I will go before you to Galilee."

33 Peter declared to him, "Even if all fall away because of you, I will never fall away."

34 Jesus said to him, "Truly I say to you, this very night, before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times."

35 Peter said to him, "Even if I have to die with you, I will not deny you." And so said all the disciples.

Mark 14:27-31

27 And Jesus said to them, "You will all fall away; for it is written: 'I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered.'

28 But after I have been raised, I will go before you to Galilee."

29 Peter said to him, "Even if all fall away, I will not."

30 Jesus said to him, "Truly, I say to you that this very night, before the rooster crows twice, you will deny me three times."

31 But he spoke more vehemently, "If I have to die with you, I will not deny you!" And they all said the same.

Luke 22:31-34

31 "Simon, Simon, behold, Satan has asked to have you, that he might sift you as wheat. 32 But I have prayed for you, that your faith may not fail; and when you have turned again, strengthen your brethren."

33 But he said to him, "Lord, I am ready to go with you to prison and to death."

34 He said, "I tell you, Peter, the rooster will not crow this day before you deny three times that you know me."

John 13:31-38

31 When he had gone out, Jesus said, "Now is the Son of Man glorified, and in him God is glorified. 32 If God is glorified in him, God will also glorify him in himself, and glorify him at once.

33 Little children, I shall be with you a little while longer. You will seek me; and as I said to the Jews, 'Where I am going, you cannot come,' so now I say to you.

34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. 35 By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another."

36 Simon Peter said to him, "Lord, where are you going?" Jesus answered, "Where I am going you cannot follow me now; but you shall follow afterward."

37 Peter said to him, "Lord, why can I not follow you now? I will lay down my life for you."

38 Jesus answered, "Will you lay down your life for me? Truly, truly, I say to you, the rooster will not crow, till you have denied me three times.
