Matthew 16:13-20 - Peter's Confession At Caesarea Philippi

¹³ And Jesus, having come into the parts of Caesarea Philippi, was asking His disciples, saying, "Who do men say that the Son of Man is?"

¹⁴ And they said, "Some say John the Immerser; and others, Elijah; and others Jeremiah, or one of the prophets."

¹⁵ And He saith to them, "But who do ye say that I am?"

¹⁶ And Simon Peter, answering, said, "Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God."

¹⁷ And Jesus, answering, said to him, "Happy are you, Simon Bar-Jonah; because flesh and blood did not reveal it to you, but My Father Who is in Heaven. ¹⁸ And I also say to you, that you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build My assembly, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. ¹⁹ I will give you the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven; and whatsoever you shall bind on the earth shall have been bound in Heaven, and whatsoever you shall loose on the earth shall have been loosed in Heaven."

²⁰ Then He charged the disciples that they should tell no one that He was the Christ.

²⁷ And Jesus went forth, and His disciples, into the villages of Caesarea Philippi. And, on the way, He asked His disciples, saying to them, "Who do men say that I am?"

²⁸ And they told Him, saying, 'John the Immerser;' and others, 'Elijah;' but others, 'One of the prophets.'"

²⁹ And He asked them, "But Who do ye say that I am?" Peter, answering, says to Him, "Thou art the Christ."

³⁰ And He charged them that they should tell no one concerning Him.
