Matthew 16:13-20 - Peter's Confession At Caesarea Philippi
And Jesus, having come into the parts of Caesarea Philippi, was asking His disciples, saying, "Who do men say that the Son of Man is?"
And they said, "Some say John the Immerser; and others, Elijah; and others Jeremiah, or one of the prophets."
And He saith to them, "But who do ye say that I am?"
And Simon Peter, answering, said, "Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God."
And Jesus, answering, said to him, "Happy are you, Simon Bar-Jonah; because flesh and blood did not reveal it to you, but My Father Who is in Heaven. 18 And I also say to you, that you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build My assembly, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. 19 I will give you the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven; and whatsoever you shall bind on the earth shall have been bound in Heaven, and whatsoever you shall loose on the earth shall have been loosed in Heaven."
Then He charged the disciples that they should tell no one that He was the Christ.
And Jesus went forth, and His disciples, into the villages of Caesarea Philippi. And, on the way, He asked His disciples, saying to them, "Who do men say that I am?"
And they told Him, saying, 'John the Immerser;' and others, 'Elijah;' but others, 'One of the prophets.'"
And He asked them, "But Who do ye say that I am?" Peter, answering, says to Him, "Thou art the Christ."
And He charged them that they should tell no one concerning Him.
