Mark 3:13-19 - The Selection Of The Twelve Apostles

¹³ Then he went up the hillside and called to him those whom he chose, and they came to him. ¹⁴ Twelve of them whom he also called "Apostles," he appointed to be with him, and also that he might send them out to preach, ¹⁵ and to have authority to cast out demons.

¹⁶ There was Simon, whom he surnamed Peter, ¹⁷ and James(them he surnamed Boanerges, that is, Sons of Thunder), ¹⁸ and Andrew, and Philip, and Bartholomew, and Matthew, and Thomas, and James the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddeus, and Simon the Zealot, ¹⁹ and Judas Iscariot who betrayed him.

¹² It happened about that time that he went out into the mountain to pray. He continued all night in prayer to God. ¹³ And when day dawned he called his disciples, and from among them he selected twelve, whom also he called Apostles missionaries.

¹⁴ They were Simon, whom he had also called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James and John; ¹⁵ Philip and Bartholomew; Mathew and Thomas, James the son of Alphaeus, Simon called the Zealot; ¹⁶ Jude the son of James, and Judas Iscariot who was the traitor.
