Birds of all kinds abound in Palestine, and the capture of these for the table and for other uses formed the employment of many persons. The traps and snares used for this purpose are mentioned Ho 5:1; Pr 7:23; 22:5; Am 3:5; Ps 69:22; comp. De 22:6-7.

If you find a bird's nest near the road, in a tree or on the ground, with young ones or eggs in it. The mother could be sitting on the young or on eggs. Do not take the mother with the young. Let the mother go. You may take the young. Let the mother go. May things go well with you and you may prolong your days.
Let their table before them become a snare. Let it become retribution and a trap.
