When you fast, do not look gloomy like the hypocrites, for they look woebegone to let men see they are fasting; I tell you truly, they do get their reward. But when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face, read more. so that your fast may be seen not by men but by your Father who is in secret, and your Father who sees what is secret will reward you.

So they reached the president's house, where he saw a tumult of people wailing and making shrill lament;

Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep.

Now then, encourage one another with these words.
