Reference: RESPECT OF PERSONS
American
The judges of the Hebrews were directed to give sentence strictly according to truth and justice, without regard to the comparative wealth, influence or other advantage of one party over the other, Le 19:15; De 16:17; Pr 24:23. Thus God judges, not according to outward appearance or station, but according to the heart, Ac 10:34; Ro 2:6-11. Thus ought men to estimate and treat their fellow men; and to court the favor of the rich and influential is sharply censured in Scripture, Pr 28:21; Jas 2:1-9; Jude 1:16.

And Peter opened his mouth, and said: In truth, I perceive that God is no respecter of persons;
who will render to every man according to his works; to those who, by patient continuance in good works, seek for glory and honor and incorruptibility, eternal life: read more. but to those who are contentious, and obey not the truth, but obey unrighteousness, anger and wrath, affliction and distress, upon every soul of man that practices what is evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Greek: but glory and honor and peace to every one that practices what is good, to the Jew first, and also to the Greek: for there is no respect of persons with God.
My brethren, do not hold the faith of our glorious Lord Jesus Christ, so as to show a partiality for persons. For if there comes into your assembly a man in splendid apparel, and with gold rings on his fingers, and there comes in also a poor man, in mean clothing, read more. and you show regard to him that wears the splendid apparel, and say to him, Sit here, in an honorable place; and you say to the poor man, Do you stand there, or sit here, under my footstool; are you not partial in yourselves? and do you not judge from false principles? Hear, my be loved brethren: Has not God chosen the poor of this world, rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which God has promised to those who love him? But you dishonor the poor man. Do not the rich oppress you, and do they not themselves drag you to the judgment-seats? Do they not themselves revile that honorable name which is called upon you? If, however, you fulfill the law of highest excellence, according to the scripture, You shall love your neighbor as yourself, you do well. But if you show partiality for persons, you work sin, and are convicted by the law as transgressors.
These are murmurers, fault-finders, walking ac cording to their own desires; and their mouth speaks boastful words, while they admire persons for the sake of gain.
